The SM-R540NZWAEUE is Samsung’s Galaxy Buds4 in white — true wireless earbuds with an 11 mm single dynamic driver, Adaptive ANC and Bluetooth 6.1 with LE Audio and Auracast. The important thing to know before anything else: these are open-fit earbuds. There are no ear tips and they do not seal the ear canal. Samsung publishes up to 5 hours per bud with ANC on and 6 hours with it off, or 24 and 30 hours including the case. Released 11 March 2026.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Open-fit is the single most important thing on this page, so we are putting it first. Samsung’s own words: an “open-type design that does not seal the ear, providing more awareness of your surroundings”. There are no silicone tips in the box and none to choose between. That has two consequences worth being honest about: you stay aware of traffic and conversation without touching a button, which is exactly what some people want — and active noise cancelling on an open-fit bud cannot do what it does on a sealed one, because there is no seal to work behind. If you want isolation on a plane or in an open-plan office, the sealed Buds3 FE or Buds4 Pro will serve you far better. If you cannot stand the plugged-ear feeling of in-ear buds, this is the reason to buy these.

What works on which phone. Basic audio and calling work over standard Bluetooth. Samsung states compatibility as Android 12 or higher with at least 1.5 GB of memory. Its European pages make no statement about iOS at all; its Middle East page says Buds4 “can be connected to iOS devices but cannot be controlled” — meaning no app, no EQ or ANC settings, no firmware updates and no Galaxy AI. Non-Samsung Android phones need the Galaxy Wearable app for anything beyond audio.

???? Greek is not supported. Samsung Greece states this explicitly and in three separate places on its own Buds4 page — not only for the Interpreter translation feature but for the AI voice assistance too. If real-time translation into Greek is why you are buying these, they will not do it.

No ear tips, no seal, no plugged-ear feeling. Samsung shapes them by “computational design” to sit in the ear rather than in the canal. For walking, cycling, working alongside other people or simply wearing for hours, this is a genuinely different experience from a sealed bud — and the reason to choose them over the Buds3 FE.
 
Bluetooth 6.1 with LE Audio and Auracast
A real generational step: the Buds3 FE runs Bluetooth 5.4 with no LE Audio at all. Buds4 adds the LC3 codec over LE Audio and supports Auracast broadcast, which is what lets you tune into a shared audio stream in a venue that offers one.
 
The case charges wirelessly — unlike the Buds3 FE
Worth naming because it is the clearest upgrade over the FE, where Samsung states outright that wireless charging is not supported. Drop the Buds4 case on any wireless charging pad. Note the pad is not included, and neither is a USB-C cable.
 
Adaptive ANC on an honest footing
Samsung describes ANC driven by pre-trained algorithms for everyday scenarios, plus ambient sound and Adaptive EQ. It publishes no decibel figure and no numbered levels — the app uses continuous sliders. And see the note above: an open-fit bud cancels less than a sealed one, whatever the algorithm.
 
Six microphones and head gestures
Three per bud, with a dedicated voice pickup unit for calls. Samsung also publishes head gestures — nod to accept a call, shake to decline — which is a genuinely useful thing when your hands are full.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do they seal my ears like normal earbuds?
No — and that is the whole point of them. Buds4 are open-fit: no ear tips, no seal, no plugged feeling, and you stay aware of what is around you. It is much more comfortable over long periods. The trade is that noise cancelling cannot work as well as it does on a sealed bud.
So is the ANC any good?
It is Samsung’s Adaptive ANC and it does reduce steady background noise, but judge it as ANC on an open-fit bud rather than against a sealed one. If your priority is blocking out a plane cabin or a busy office, buy a sealed model instead. If your priority is comfort and awareness with some noise reduction, this is the right design.
Does the case charge wirelessly?
Yes. This is one of the clearest upgrades over the Galaxy Buds3 FE, where Samsung states outright that wireless charging is not supported. The pad is not included, and neither is a USB-C cable.
Are the buds and the case waterproof?
Neither is waterproof, and only the buds are rated. Samsung gives the earbuds IP54 — dust and splashed water — and its user guide states that the charging case is not water-resistant.
Can I connect them to two devices at once?
Samsung does not claim multipoint for these. It claims Auto Switch, which moves the connection automatically between Galaxy devices signed in to the same Samsung account. That is a different thing and it only works within the Galaxy ecosystem.
Will they translate Greek?
No. Samsung Greece states this explicitly, in three separate footnotes on its own Buds4 page, and it applies to the AI voice assistance as well as to Interpreter. This is unchanged from the Galaxy Buds3 FE — Greek has not been added.
Do they work with an iPhone?

The Buds4 are not a straightforward upgrade over the Buds3 FE — they are a different kind of earbud, and choosing between them is about fit rather than price. Open-fit means no seal: far more comfortable for a long day, far better if you need to hear traffic or a colleague, and honestly weaker at noise cancelling no matter what the algorithm does. Buy them for the comfort and the awareness, not for the ANC. What Samsung has genuinely improved is everything around the audio: Bluetooth 6.1 with LE Audio and Auracast where the FE had 5.4 and neither, plus a case that finally charges wirelessly. Two caveats to weigh before ordering. The per-bud battery is actually shorter than the FE’s despite the same 24- and 30-hour totals. And for a Cyprus buyer, the AI translation features that headline this product do not work in Greek — Samsung Greece says so itself, three times on its own page.
