The CLP-500RT is the original Samsung transfer belt for the CLP-500, CLP-500N, CLP-550 and CLP-550N colour laser printers. A transfer belt is a separate consumable from toner: it is the moving belt that carries the four colour layers and transfers them onto the paper. Replacing it will not clear a toner message, and replacing toner will not fix a failing belt.

Make sure this is the part you actually need — a colour laser of this generation has four separate consumables on four different clocks.
• Toner cartridges — four of them, black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Replaced when a colour goes faint or the printer reports that colour empty. This is the routine one.
• Drum / OPC unit — the photoconductor. Shows itself as the same defect repeating at a fixed interval down the page.
• Transfer belt — this part. Carries the assembled colour image to the paper. When it wears, you see colour registration drifting, ghosting, smearing or bands of colour landing in the wrong place, and no amount of new toner fixes it.
• Waste toner container — fills up and must be emptied or replaced.

How to tell it is the belt

HP now stands behind Samsung printer supplies
Samsung sold its printer business to HP in 2017 and directs all printer support there. The CLP-500 series predates that transfer by more than a decade, so no live manufacturer page survives for this part in any region.
