SanDisk High Endurance 512GB microSDXC — 40,000 hours of Full HD
40,000 recording hours100 MB/s read40 MB/s writeU3 · V30
The SanDisk High Endurance 512GB microSDXC card, part number SDSQQNR-512G-GN6IA, is the largest card in this line and the one its headline figure actually belongs to: 40,000 hours of rated Full HD recording. It reads at 100 MB/s, writes at 40 MB/s and carries U3 and V30, with an SD adapter in the box. It is built for cameras that overwrite their card continuously.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is the capacity the 40,000-hour figure belongs to. SanDisk prints that number on every page in this line, including the 32 GB card rated for 2,500 hours — here it is correct, because the rating doubles with each capacity step and 512 GB is the top of the ladder. It is an endurance card, not a fast card. At 40 MB/s write it is far slower than the Extreme line, and that is the deliberate trade for memory built to survive constant overwriting. If you want a card for photography or 4K action footage, this is the wrong one. An SD adapter is included.
Best For
✓ Dashcams recording on a loop
✓ Home and business security cameras
✓ Body cameras and continuous monitoring
✓ Long recording windows before overwriting
✓ Vehicles left in Cyprus summer heat
✓ Anyone replacing dashcam cards too often
Key Features
40,000 hours — and here the number is the real one
The endurance ladder in this line doubles with capacity: 2,500 hours at 32 GB, 5,000 at 64 GB, 10,000 at 128 GB, 20,000 at 256 GB and 40,000 at 512 GB. SanDisk shows the 40,000 figure on every capacity page, which is misleading everywhere except this one. On this card it is accurate.
Endurance is a different specification from speed
A dashcam writes over the same card continuously, so what eventually fails is the number of write cycles the memory can absorb, not its speed. An Extreme card writing 130 MB/s will outrun this one on paper and wear out first in a loop-recording camera.
512 GB means a long window before anything is overwritten
On a dashcam this is days of footage rather than hours, so an incident from last week is still there when you go looking. That is often more useful than the endurance rating itself, and it is the practical reason to buy the big card.
V30 and a rating to 85 degrees Celsius
V30 guarantees at least 30 MB/s of sustained write, which is what stops a dashcam dropping frames at the moment it matters. The operating range runs from -25 to 85 degrees, which is what a card spending July on a windscreen needs.

Singular Expert Insight
This is the one card in the High Endurance line where SanDisk headline number is honest, and it is worth saying so rather than quietly benefiting from the confusion — on the 32 GB card the same 40,000 hours appears and the real figure is 2,500. What makes 512 GB genuinely useful for a dashcam is not only the wear budget but the recording window: at this size the loop takes days to come around, so an incident is still on the card when you remember to look for it. Do not buy it for speed; at 40 MB/s write it is deliberately slower than the Extreme cards, and that is the trade for lasting. If the recorder takes a hard drive rather than a card, our surveillance hard drives follow the same principle.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want the longest recording window and the highest wear budget in the High Endurance line, for a dashcam or security camera, with V30 keeping the footage smooth.
Skip it if
You want a card for photos or 4K action footage — 40 MB/s write and 100 MB/s read make this the wrong tool, and the Extreme line is faster for similar money.
Also consider
The MAX Endurance SDSQQVR is rated far longer for cameras that never switch off. For photography and 4K, the Extreme microSD is the right line.
