SanDisk Extreme Fit 512GB USB-C — half a terabyte in a 3-gram drive
400 MB/s readUSB-C only3 grams512 GB
The SanDisk Extreme Fit, part number SDCZ530-512G-G46, puts 512 GB into a drive measuring 18.5 by 15.7 by 13.6 mm and weighing 3 grams. It reads at 400 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 1 and has a single fixed USB-C connector. It is designed to go into a laptop or tablet and stay there as permanent extra storage rather than be carried about and plugged in.
Compatibility — check before buying:
USB-C only. There is no USB-A connector and none folds out, so a computer with only the older rectangular ports needs an adapter. The Ultra Fit, part SDCZ430, is the same tiny idea with a USB-A connector, and the names are close enough that people order the wrong one — check which ports your machine has first. SanDisk publishes no write speed for this line at any capacity. The drive is rated for 0 to 45 degrees Celsius. In the box: the drive alone — no cable, adapter or case.
Best For
✓ USB-C laptops and tablets
✓ A drive left permanently in a port
✓ Adding 512 GB to a machine with a small SSD
✓ USB-C Android phones
✓ MacBooks with few ports to spare
✓ Anyone who dislikes drives that protrude
Key Features
512 GB that barely leaves the port
At 3 grams and 18.5 mm long, most of the drive is the connector. That is the design goal: storage that becomes part of the laptop rather than a thing you plug in, use and remove. Nothing catches when the laptop goes into a bag.
400 MB/s read, the top of the ladder
SanDisk rates 128 GB and above at 400 MB/s in this line, so 512 GB is on the fastest rung. Over a USB 3.2 Gen 1 link that is close to what the connection itself allows, and the same headline figure as far larger drives in the range.
One fixed connector, nothing to break
No cap, no swivel, no slider. On a drive this small the moving parts are what fail, and there are none. The trade is that it will only ever be a USB-C drive.
SanDisk Memory Zone app
Offered as a download for managing and backing up files to the drive. Nothing is preloaded, so the drive arrives empty and there is nothing to uninstall if you would rather use your own tools.

Singular Expert Insight
At 512 GB this is the smallest drive in the range that still reads 400 MB/s — the Ultra Slider and Ultra Luxe match the speed but are several times the size. If the drive is going to live in a laptop, that is the whole argument. The mistake to avoid is the connector: the Ultra Fit is the USB-A twin of this drive at the same speed, and a customer who orders on the name rather than the port ends up with something that will not plug in. If you need real sustained write performance rather than a fast read figure, an external SSD is the category that publishes those numbers.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your laptop, tablet or phone has USB-C and you want 512 GB that disappears into the port and reads at 400 MB/s, with no cap or moving parts to fail.
Skip it if
Your computer has only USB-A ports — order the Ultra Fit instead. Skip it too if write speed is your deciding number, since SanDisk publishes none for this line.
Also consider
The Ultra Fit SDCZ430 is the USB-A version at the same 400 MB/s. The Dual Drive Go carries both connectors if your machines are mixed.
