SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 512GB — 525 MB/s Read, 450 MB/s Write, VPG-130
512GB capacity525 MB/s read450 MB/s writeVPG-130 guarantee
The SanDisk Extreme PRO CFast 2.0 card is a 512GB professional card for cameras with a CFast slot, published at up to 525 MB/s read and up to 450 MB/s write. Part number SDCFSP-512G-G46D is the 512GB model and the top capacity in the line. The number that matters most on a card like this is neither of those: it is the VPG-130 rating and the 130 MB/s minimum sustained write, a certified floor the card will not fall below while a camera is recording. CFast 2.0 runs on a SATA III interface, which is why it is several times quicker than CompactFlash while using a shell of the same outline.
Compatibility — check before buying:
CFast fits CFast slots and nothing else — this is the mistake that costs money. The card has the same outline as CompactFlash but a completely different connector: a SATA-style edge instead of CF’s pin socket. A CFast card will not work in a CF slot and a CF card will not work in a CFast slot, in either direction, and no adapter bridges them. CFexpress Type A and Type B are different cards again — different dimensions, PCIe and NVMe rather than SATA — so a camera advertising “CFexpress” or “XQD” does not take CFast. Read what your camera manual actually calls the slot; the word is “CFast 2.0” and nothing else will do. You will also need a CFast 2.0 reader for a computer, and none is included — an SD or CF reader will not read this card. SanDisk publishes no camera compatibility list for this card, so rather than repeat what circulates online, send us your body model and we will check it against the manufacturer’s own documentation.
Best For
✓ Cinema and broadcast bodies with a CFast 2.0 slot
✓ Long takes where a guaranteed write rate matters
✓ High-bitrate and RAW video recording
✓ Shoots where a card must last the day
✓ Fast offload at the end of a session
✓ Keeping a CFast-based camera in service
Key Features
525 MB/s read, 450 MB/s write
Both directions published for this capacity. Note the 64GB card in the same line writes at 430 MB/s, so 450 is genuinely the figure for 128GB and above rather than a family headline.
VPG-130 — the number a cinema camera cares about
Video Performance Guarantee 130 certifies that the card will never drop below 130 MB/s during recording. That is a promise, not a peak, and it is what stops a long take aborting mid-record. Peak speeds are marketing; VPG is engineering.
SATA III underneath
CFast 2.0 uses the same interface as a 2.5-inch SSD, which is where its speed advantage over CompactFlash comes from — roughly three times the read rate of a CF card in a shell of the same size. It is also why it needs its own reader.
512GB — the top of the line
SanDisk makes no 1TB or 2TB Extreme PRO CFast card. At 512GB this is as much CFast capacity as exists, which for high-bitrate recording is usually one long shooting day.

Singular Expert Insight
CFast is a professional format with a narrow, well-defined audience: cameras that specifically say CFast 2.0, mostly cinema and broadcast bodies. If that is your camera, this is the card, and 512GB is the largest one SanDisk makes for it. Buy it on the VPG-130 floor and the 130 MB/s minimum sustained write rather than the 525 MB/s peak — a guaranteed rate is what decides whether a long take survives, and the peak only decides how fast the offload runs afterwards. What matters even more than the numbers is the format itself: CFast, CompactFlash and CFexpress look similar, fit nothing in common, and are bought wrongly all the time. And budget for a CFast reader in the same order — our card readers cover it, and if the footage is going straight into an edit, a fast external SSD is the sensible other half of the workflow.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your camera manual says CFast 2.0 and you record long, high-bitrate takes. VPG-130, a 130 MB/s guaranteed floor, 450 MB/s write, and the largest capacity the format offers.
Skip it if
Your camera takes CompactFlash, CFexpress or SD — this card physically cannot work and no adapter exists. Skip it too if you shoot only stills, where the guaranteed rate buys you nothing.
Also consider
A CFast 2.0 card reader, which is required and not included. A CompactFlash or CFexpress card if that is what your body actually takes. A fast external SSD to receive the footage.
