SanDisk Phone Drive for iPhone 128GB — Lightning and USB-C on one drive
Lightning + USB-CFits every iPhone90 MB/s read10 MB/s write
The SanDisk Phone Drive for iPhone, part number SDIXD0N-128G-GN6NE, carries a Lightning connector and a USB-C connector on the same body. That is what makes it unusual: it plugs into an iPhone 14 or older, an iPhone 15 or newer, a USB-C iPad and a MacBook without any adapter. It holds 128 GB and reads at 90 MB/s.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The write speed is 10 MB/s, and that is not a typo. SanDisk publishes 90 MB/s read and 10 MB/s write for this drive at every capacity. Copying photos onto the drive is therefore slow — a 30 GB camera roll is a long wait, not a quick one. We put it here rather than in the small print, because it is the thing people are surprised by. What you get in exchange is the connector coverage: Lightning and USB-C together, which no other drive in this range offers. If every device in your house is USB-C, the Phone Drive with USB-C reads at 150 MB/s instead. In the box: the drive alone.
Best For
✓ Households with both old and new iPhones
✓ An iPhone 14 or earlier that needs offloading
✓ Moving files between an iPhone and a MacBook
✓ Occasional backups rather than daily ones
✓ Freeing space on a full phone before a trip
✓ People who do not want to carry adapters
Key Features
Two connectors, every iPhone generation
Lightning covers iPhone 5 through iPhone 14 and Lightning iPads; USB-C covers iPhone 15 and later, USB-C iPads and MacBooks. One drive, no adapter, and nothing that stops working when you upgrade your phone. For a household with mixed generations that is the entire argument.
Password protection built in
This is the only drive in SanDisk phone range that publishes a password-protection feature, applied through the SanDisk app. On a drive holding a copy of your photo library and left in a bag, that is worth setting up on the first day.
90 MB/s read is enough to get files off quickly
Reading is the direction that matters when you are recovering a file or moving footage to a laptop. At 90 MB/s a large video clip transfers in well under a minute. It is the writing that is slow, which is why we recommend it for periodic backups rather than continuous ones.
Small enough to leave on a keyring
At 50 by 15 by 9 mm and 5 grams the drive is smaller than most car keys, with no cap and no cable. That matters more than it sounds: a backup drive that is inconvenient to carry is a backup drive that stays at home.

Singular Expert Insight
This drive makes one trade very plainly, and we would rather you know it before ordering than after. It is the only drive here that fits every iPhone ever made, because it carries both connectors — and it writes at 10 MB/s, which is slow by any standard. For periodic backups and for pulling files off a phone, that is a fair exchange. For weekly backups of a large library, it is not, and either the USB-C-only Phone Drive at 150 MB/s read or an external SSD with a cable will serve you better. The password protection is a genuine extra that the other phone drives do not publish. See our other USB flash drives for computer use.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You have a Lightning iPhone, or a mix of old and new iPhones in the house, and you want one drive that connects to all of them plus a MacBook, with password protection included.
Skip it if
You back up a large camera roll often — at 10 MB/s write that becomes a chore. If all your devices are USB-C, the Phone Drive with USB-C reads 150 MB/s and costs less trouble.
Also consider
The Phone Drive with USB-C reads at 150 MB/s for USB-C-only households. The iXpand Flash Drive Go pairs Lightning with USB-A for older laptops.
