The SanDisk Phone SSD 2TB (SDSSDE62M-2T00-G25) is a MagSafe-compatible external SSD that snaps to the back of a smartphone and connects over USB-C, so you can record 4K ProRes video at up to 60 fps straight to the drive instead of filling the phone’s internal storage. It is aimed at creators shooting long or high-bitrate video on their phone.
After the shoot it detaches and plugs into a Mac, PC or tablet over USB-C, with SanDisk rating read speeds up to 1000MB/s for moving large clips. IP65 water and dust resistance and drop protection up to 3 metres make it suitable for travel and outdoor work.
Before you order: Recording ProRes 4K at 60 fps directly to an external drive depends on the phone — SanDisk notes support varies by host device. On iPhone this is a feature of USB-C Pro models; tell us your phone model and we will confirm before you order.

What It Means in Practice
- 2 TB holds many hours of high-bitrate phone video, so you can shoot a full event without offloading.
- On MagSafe phones it attaches magnetically; for other USB-C phones, stick the included magnetic ring to the phone or case first.
- Transfers to a computer at up to 1000MB/s read when the host port supports it — older USB ports will be slower.
- IP65 means protection against dust and water jets; the drive must be clean and dry before connecting.
- Weighs 68 g, light enough to stay attached while filming handheld.
What Will Not Work
- Phones with a Lightning port (iPhone 14 and earlier) cannot connect — the drive uses USB-C.
- Not every USB-C phone can record ProRes 4K60 to external storage — the drive cannot add that capability to a phone that lacks it.
