SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive 256GB — USB-C and USB-A in One Body

256GBUSB-C + USB-AUSB 3.1 Gen 1Swivel design

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C (part number SDDDC2-256G-G46) is a 256GB flash drive with a USB-C connector on one end and a full-size USB-A connector on the other, joined by a swivel body. It moves files directly between a USB-C phone, tablet or laptop and any ordinary computer without a cable or an adapter. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This drive is USB-C, not micro-USB. The point is worth stating plainly because SanDisk’s own web address for this product still contains “m30”, the code for its older micro-USB family, and listings elsewhere have inherited that error. The two connectors here are USB Type-C and USB Type-A. It will not work with a Lightning iPhone or iPad. SanDisk publishes Android 11 or later, Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.15 or later. SanDisk publishes no read speed for the 256GB model — its per-capacity table states figures at 16GB, 32GB and 128GB only — so we do not state one here. A thick phone case can stop any USB-C drive seating fully.

Best For

✓ USB-C Android phones and tablets
✓ USB-C laptops, including MacBooks
✓ Older computers through the USB-A end
✓ Moving large photo and video libraries
✓ Carrying files between home and work machines
✓ One drive that covers both port types

Key Features

Both connectors in one small body
USB Type-C and USB Type-A on opposite ends, so the same drive plugs into a modern phone and into a desktop without an adapter. The swivel mechanism covers whichever plug is idle, so there is no cap to lose.

Speed: what SanDisk does and does not publish
SanDisk publishes up to 150 MB/s at 32GB and 128GB and 130 MB/s at 16GB, but its per-capacity table has no figure for 256GB. We will not carry a smaller-capacity number across to a size the manufacturer has not rated, so this listing states no read speed. If speed is the deciding factor, the Ultra Dual Drive Go publishes 400 MB/s at 256GB.

USB 3.1 Gen 1
A 5 Gbps interface, backward compatible with older USB ports at their own speeds. SanDisk labels this family USB 3.1 Gen 1 rather than the newer USB 3.2 Gen 1 name; both describe the same rate.

Built for a keyring
38.1 x 20.07 x 9.4 mm and 9.2 g, with a loop moulded into the body. Operating range 0°C to 45°C, storage -10°C to 70°C.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the micro-USB drive or the USB-C one?
USB-C. The micro-USB drive is the Ultra Dual Drive m3.0, part prefix SDDD3. This one is SDDDC2 and has USB Type-C. The confusion is understandable — SanDisk’s own URL for this USB-C product still contains the old micro-USB family code.
Why does this page not state a read speed?
Because SanDisk does not publish one at 256GB. It states 150 MB/s at 32GB and 128GB, but its table has no row for this capacity. Printing 150 here would be an assumption rather than a specification, so we leave it out and say why.
Will it work with an iPhone?
Only with an iPhone or iPad that has a USB-C port. Lightning models cannot use this drive. If you have a Lightning iPhone you need a Lightning-specific drive instead.
How does it compare with the Ultra Dual Drive Go?
The Go is the newer design: smaller, lighter at 3.5 g against 9.2 g, and it publishes 400 MB/s at this capacity where this drive publishes nothing. If you are choosing between them today, the Go is the stronger buy on both counts.
Singular Expert Insight
The Ultra Dual Drive does the job it was built for, but at 256GB it has been overtaken within SanDisk’s own range. The Ultra Dual Drive Go has the same two connectors in a smaller, lighter body and publishes 400 MB/s at this capacity, while SanDisk has quietly stopped publishing any speed figure for the 256GB version of this older model. That silence is the most useful thing we can tell you about it. Both sit in our USB flash drives range, and unless the price difference is real we would point you at the Go. The one genuine caution that applies to either: a flash drive is for carrying files, not working from them or backing them up — at 256GB an external SSD is both faster and the right tool if these files matter.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You want one drive covering both USB-C and USB-A ports, you have found it at a good price, and a published speed figure is not what you are buying on.

Skip it if

You want to know how fast it is. SanDisk publishes nothing at this capacity, and the Ultra Dual Drive Go publishes 400 MB/s for the same arrangement.

Also consider

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go, smaller and rated 400 MB/s at 256GB, or a portable SSD if the files will live on the drive.
