SanDisk Ultra Fit 512GB USB-A — 400 MB/s read in a 1.3-gram drive
400 MB/s readUSB-A connector1.3 grams512 GB
The SanDisk Ultra Fit, part number SDCZ430-512G-G46, is 512 GB in a drive that weighs 1.3 grams and sticks out barely more than a fingernail. It reads at 400 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 1 and uses the standard rectangular USB-A connector. It is designed to be plugged into a laptop or a car stereo and simply left there.
Compatibility — check before buying:
USB-A only. This is the rectangular connector, so it fits most laptops, desktops, TVs and car head units — but not a USB-C port and not a phone without an adapter. The USB-C equivalent in the same tiny format is the Extreme Fit, part SDCZ530; the names are close enough to cause mistakes. SanDisk rates this drive for 0 to 35 degrees Celsius, which a parked car in a Cyprus summer exceeds. No write speed is published. In the box: the drive alone — no cable, adapter or case.
Best For
✓ A drive left permanently in a laptop
✓ Adding storage to a car stereo or TV
✓ Machines with USB-A ports
✓ A media library that stays plugged in
✓ Laptops with too few ports to waste
✓ Anyone who dislikes drives that stick out
Key Features
Barely there — 1.3 grams and 30 mm long
About half of that length is the connector itself, so the drive protrudes very little from the port. That is the whole design: extra storage that becomes part of the machine rather than something you plug in and remove.
400 MB/s read at 512 GB
SanDisk rates this line at 400 MB/s for the larger capacities, and 512 GB is one of them. It is the same headline read speed as the far larger Ultra Luxe and Ultra Slider drives, in a fraction of the volume.
USB-A, which is still what most things have
Car stereos, televisions, media players and older laptops overwhelmingly use USB-A. A tiny USB-C drive is useless in all of them. If your world is still rectangular ports, this is the drive that fits it.
Rated to 35 degrees Celsius
SanDisk publishes an operating range of 0 to 35 degrees for this drive. A car interior in July here goes well past that, which is worth knowing precisely because this drive is one people leave permanently in a car stereo.

Singular Expert Insight
The Ultra Fit and the Extreme Fit are the same idea with different plugs, and at 512 GB they read at the same 400 MB/s — so the only question is whether your machines have rectangular USB-A ports or USB-C. Get that wrong and the drive is unusable, which is why we put the connector in the product name rather than leaving it to the specification table. The other thing worth planning around is the 35 degree rating: this is the drive people leave in a car stereo, and a car here is not a 35 degree environment in August. See the rest of our USB flash drives, or an external SSD if you need a drive to work from rather than store on.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want 512 GB that disappears into a USB-A port on a laptop, a TV or a car stereo, reading at 400 MB/s, and you will leave it plugged in.
Skip it if
Your machine has USB-C ports — the Extreme Fit SDCZ530 is the same drive with the right connector. Skip it too for a vehicle that bakes in summer, given the 35 degree rating.
Also consider
The Extreme Fit SDCZ530 is the USB-C version at the same 400 MB/s. The Dual Drive Go carries both connectors if your machines are mixed.
