SanDisk Ultra Luxe USB Type-C 1TB — Metal Body, Single USB-C Connector, 400 MB/s Read
1TB capacityUp to 400 MB/s readUSB-C onlyMetal enclosure
The SanDisk Ultra Luxe USB Type-C is a 1TB flash drive with a single fixed USB-C connector in a metal enclosure, reading at up to 400 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 1. Part number SDCZ75-1T00-G46 is the 1TB model. It is the drive for a world where the laptop, the tablet and the phone all have the same port: nothing to swivel, nothing to slide, no adapter to carry. The metal shell has a keyring hole through one end and there is no cap, so the connector is exposed — a design choice worth knowing before it goes loose in a bag with keys.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Three things to check. First, this drive has a USB-C connector only. A desktop or an older laptop with rectangular USB-A ports cannot take it without an adapter, and none is included. Second, for phone use the phone must support USB host mode (OTG): recent Android phones do and so do iPhone 15 and later, but an iPhone 14 or earlier has a Lightning port and cannot use this drive at all. At 11.8 mm thick the metal body may also not clear a deeply recessed port on a cased phone. Third, and this is the one that catches people out when comparing listings: SDCZ75 and SDCZ75C are different products. The trailing C is SanDisk’s Creator Series drive, not this one. Also worth stating plainly — this drive does not have a retractable or sliding connector, despite some listings elsewhere describing it that way; the sliding drive in SanDisk’s range is the Ultra Slider. Tell us the device and we will confirm the port.
Best For
✓ Phones, tablets and laptops that are all USB-C
✓ Moving files off a phone without the cloud
✓ A metal keyring drive with no moving parts
✓ Carrying a large media library
✓ Anyone who has already switched fully to USB-C
✓ Travel where an adapter is one thing too many
Key Features
One fixed USB-C connector, no mechanism
No swivel, no slider, no hinge. There is nothing to wear out or snap off, which is the usual way a keyring flash drive dies. The trade-off is the exposed connector: there is no cap, so it is worth keeping the drive somewhere it will not collect pocket lint.
400 MB/s read at 1TB
SanDisk publishes 400 MB/s read for 128GB and above in this line, with 64GB at 300 MB/s. That figure is this capacity’s figure rather than a family headline borrowed from elsewhere.
Metal enclosure, 10.5 grams
45.8 × 16 × 11.8 mm in a metal shell with a keyring hole. Heavier and chunkier than a plastic drive, and considerably harder to break.
RescuePRO file recovery offer
SanDisk includes an offer for its RescuePRO recovery software alongside the SanDisk app. Both are downloads with registration required — nothing is preloaded on the drive itself.

Singular Expert Insight
This drive and the USB-A Ultra Luxe are the same idea with different plugs and the same published 400 MB/s read — but they are not identical on paper: the USB-A model publishes password protection with 128-bit AES and this one publishes no encryption at all. If security matters more than the connector, that is the deciding fact. If you want one drive that fits both port types without an adapter, the Dual Drive Go and Dual Drive Luxe put a USB-C and a USB-A connector on the same body at the same speed, and that is usually the better answer for a household with mixed machines. What none of these are is a work drive: sustained writing is where every flash drive slows down, so if you plan to edit or run software from it, a small portable SSD is the right purchase.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Everything you own is USB-C and you want a 1TB metal keyring drive with no moving parts, reading at up to 400 MB/s. No adapter, no mechanism, nothing to break.
Skip it if
You still use USB-A ports, your phone is an iPhone 14 or earlier, or you need a drive whose contents can be password protected — SanDisk publishes no encryption for this model.
Also consider
The USB-A Ultra Luxe if you need password protection or USB-A. A Dual Drive Go or Luxe if you want both connectors on one body. A portable SSD if you will be working from the drive.
