SEVERIN FR 2430 — 3.2 Litres and Six Named Programmes, in Brushed Stainless Steel
3.2-litre ceramic-coated basket1500 W with 80–200 °C control6 automatic programmesBrushed stainless steel and black
The SEVERIN FR 2430 is the compact model of the range: a 3.2-litre ceramic-coated basket driven by a 1500 W element, in a brushed stainless steel and black housing. Temperature runs from 80 to 200 °C and the timer goes to 60 minutes with an audible finish signal, automatic shut-off and overheat protection. Six automatic programmes are named on the control panel — fries, meat, chicken, shrimp, vegetables and baking — and everything is operated from an LCD touch display. Non-slip rubber feet keep it steady on the worktop.
Compatibility — check before buying:
???? The parts are not dishwasher safe. SEVERIN’s instruction manual states plainly that no part should be cleaned in a dishwasher — wash the basket and holder by hand in hot soapy water once cool. SEVERIN does not publish a maximum food quantity for this model: the 400 g figure that circulates on reseller listings is not a SEVERIN figure and we will not repeat it. Plan around the 3.2-litre basket volume instead, which suits one to two portions. The appliance measures 29 x 40 x 34 cm and the cable is 80.5 cm, so it must sit near a socket with clear space above and behind for the hot air outlet. SEVERIN publishes no noise level and no PFAS or PTFE-free claim — the coating is described only as ceramic.
Best For
✓ Cooking for one or two people
✓ Small kitchens where worktop space is limited
✓ Anyone who wants named presets rather than guesswork
✓ Reheating and crisping without heating the oven
✓ Cooking with little or no added oil
✓ Households replacing a deep fat fryer
Key Features
Six programmes, and they are named
Unlike many fryers that leave you guessing at icons, SEVERIN names all six on this model: fries, meat, chicken, shrimp, vegetables and baking. Each is a published starting point rather than an unlabelled symbol.
Ceramic coating on both parts
Both the basket insert and the basket holder are ceramic coated, which SEVERIN describes as extremely scratch-resistant, strongly non-stick and particularly heat-resistant. Many fryers coat only the inner basket.
Full manual control as well
80 to 200 °C and a 60-minute timer with finish signal, automatic shut-off and overheat protection, from an LCD touch display. The presets do not restrict what you can set.
Stainless steel, not just plastic
A brushed stainless steel and black housing with non-slip rubber feet — a step up in finish from the plastic-bodied XXL model in the same range.

Singular Expert Insight
Between the two SEVERIN fryers we stock, this is the one for a smaller household. Where the FR 2445 XXL takes a whole chicken, the FR 2430 is a 3.2-litre appliance sized for one or two portions — and it is 5 cm narrower and 4 cm shallower, which matters on a short worktop. It also has the better finish of the two: brushed stainless steel against the XXL’s plastic housing. What you give up is the memory function and two programmes. One point that applies to both: neither goes in the dishwasher, and on the larger model SEVERIN’s own English marketing text wrongly says it does. Follow the manual. Both models remain listed by SEVERIN but the current range has moved to newer FR models, so if you want a matching second unit or spares later, ask us and we will check with the distributor.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You cook for one or two, worktop space is tight, and you want named presets plus full manual control in a stainless steel housing.
Skip it if
You cook for a family or want to roast a whole chicken — the 5-litre FR 2445 XXL is the right size — or you want dishwasher-safe parts, which neither model offers.
Also consider
SEVERIN FR 2445 XXL for a 5-litre, 2000 W version with eight programmes and a memory function.
