The Shuttle XPC nano NE10N, ordered here under code PFB-NE10N101, is a barebone: a complete fanless 0.6-litre chassis and mainboard with a soldered Intel N100 processor, a 65W external power supply and a VESA bracket in the box, but deliberately without memory, storage or an operating system so you fit exactly what the job needs. It gives you one DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slot up to 16GB, one M.2 2280 slot that takes either a PCIe 3.0 NVMe or a SATA SSD, a second M.2 slot for a wireless card, six USB ports of which four run at 10Gbps, and HDMI 2.0 plus full-size DisplayPort 1.4 for two independent 4K screens at 60 Hz. An Infineon dTPM 2.0 chip is fitted, so a Windows 11 install is straightforward. It measures 135 x 115 x 39 mm and Shuttle rates it for 24/7 operation. Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a barebone. You must add a DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM (one slot, 16GB maximum, non-ECC), an M.2 2280 SSD (PCIe 3.0 NVMe or SATA — Shuttle validates up to 1TB) and an operating system before it will do anything. There is no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth: the M.2 2230 E-key slot is empty and takes a standard module such as an Intel AX200, AX210 or AX211, which is not supplied. Shuttle’s own WLN-M1 wireless kit exists but the NE10N is not on its published compatibility list, so ask us before ordering that specific kit. Also note: the memory is DDR4, not DDR5, and it is a single slot, so there is no dual-channel option. There is no 2.5 inch bay, no eMMC and no serial/COM port option. The operating temperature range is 0 to 40 degrees C — this is an office-grade fanless machine, not a wide-range industrial one, so do not specify it for an unheated or hot enclosure.

The chassis cools passively and the external 65W adapter has no fan either, so there is no moving part in the whole system. Shuttle rates the NE10N for continuous 24/7 operation, which is what a signage or kiosk installation actually needs.
 
Six USB ports, four of them 10Gbps
Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A on the front alongside headphone and microphone jacks, plus two more Gen 2 and two USB 2.0 on the back. Peripherals do not have to fight over a hub, and the fast ports are where your hands are.
 
Two independent 4K screens
HDMI 2.0 and a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 each drive up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, for two independent displays. Note that the port is a full-size DisplayPort, not the mini DisplayPort some distributor listings claim.

One DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slot, one M.2 2280 slot that accepts NVMe or SATA, and a second M.2 slot for wireless. The VESA bracket, screws and an M.2 thermal pad pack are all in the box, so it goes behind a monitor or on a wall with nothing else to buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to buy alongside it?
At minimum one DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM of up to 16GB, one M.2 2280 SSD (PCIe 3.0 NVMe or SATA) and a Windows 11 or Linux licence. If the machine needs wireless, add an M.2 2230 E-key Wi-Fi card as well — the slot is there but the card is not. The power supply and the VESA bracket are already in the box, so those two are not extra costs.
Is there any Wi-Fi built in?
No. The NE10N ships with an empty M.2 2230 E-key slot for a wireless card. Standard modules such as the Intel AX200, AX210 and AX211 fit, and Shuttle names the Realtek AW-XB547NF as another example. Shuttle’s own WLN-M1 wireless kit exists but the NE10N does not appear on its published compatibility list, so check with us before ordering that particular kit.
Can I fit 32GB of memory or two sticks?
No. There is a single SO-DIMM slot and Shuttle specifies a 16GB maximum, so the machine runs single channel by design. It is also DDR4, not DDR5 — a common assumption with this processor generation. For a signage, kiosk or thin-client role 8GB or 16GB is comfortably enough.
Will it run Windows 11?
Yes. A discrete Infineon TPM 2.0 chip is fitted on the board, which satisfies the main sticking point for Windows 11, and Shuttle validates both Windows 11 64-bit and Linux 64-bit for this model. Remember that no operating system or licence is supplied with a barebone — you install your own.

The NE10N earns its place by being genuinely fanless including the power brick, 24/7 rated, and complete in the ways that usually cost extra — the VESA bracket, the screws, the M.2 thermal pad and the PSU are all in the box. Watch the three fixed limits before you commit: a single DDR4 slot capped at 16GB, one drive slot with no 2.5 inch fallback, and an 0 to 40 degrees C operating range that rules out hot cabinets.
