Silex DS-600 — Gigabit USB 3.0 Device Server
USB 3.0 + USB 2.0Gigabit LANSX Virtual LinkAES-256
The Silex DS-600 (order code E1335) is a USB device server: it connects USB devices such as printers, multifunction printers, scanners, drives and license dongles to your network, so Windows PCs can use them as if they were plugged in locally. It has one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 Type-A port and a Gigabit Ethernet port, and it supports isochronous USB transfer as well. Each PC runs Silex’s free SX Virtual Link software and connects to a device when it needs it. In practice it turns a single USB scanner or MFP into a shared office device, or moves a license dongle off a desk and into the rack. Tell us which USB device you want to share and we check it with you before you order.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It works through software on Windows PCs: SX Virtual Link must be installed on every PC that uses the devices. Silex lists Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 and Windows Server editions — macOS, phones and tablets are not supported, so it is not a print server for mobile devices. One PC uses a USB device at a time; others connect when it is released. USB and network cables are not included. Send us the device model and your Windows version and we confirm it.
Best For
✓ Sharing a USB scanner or MFP
✓ License dongles in the server room
✓ USB drives shared on the LAN
✓ Label and receipt printers
✓ Offices with Windows PCs
✓ Moving USB devices away from desks
Key Features
USB 3.0 and USB 2.0
One SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port and one Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port connect two devices, with isochronous transfer supported for devices that stream data.
Gigabit network
A 10/100/1000 Mbit/s port lets USB 3.0 devices such as scanners and drives work at high throughput over the LAN.
SX Virtual Link
Silex’s software makes the network device appear to Windows as a local USB device, so the standard drivers work.
Security built in
AES-256 data encryption, a USB connect password and IEEE 802.1X authentication (EAP-TLS, PEAPv0, EAP-TTLS) protect the connection.
