Silicon Power Blaze B50 64 GB — 90 MB/s Read, 28 Write, Both Published
64 GB90 MB/s read / 28 MB/s writeRetractable, carbon fibre finish5-year Silicon Power warranty
The Silicon Power Blaze B50 is a 64 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with a retractable capless connector and a carbon-fibre surface treatment against scratches, dust and fingerprints. Unusually for the Blaze family, Silicon Power publishes both speeds for this exact capacity: 90 MB/s read and 28 MB/s write. The drive measures 51.4 x 20.0 x 12.0 mm and weighs 8.3 g, and is rated for 10,000 insertions.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive. The whole Blaze family is Type-A; Silicon Power’s USB-C and phone-facing drives are the separate Mobile C series, so this will not enter a phone or a USB-C-only laptop without an adapter, and none is supplied. Two things worth knowing about the speed. Silicon Power publishes the B50 per capacity, and it is not a case of bigger being faster: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB all read at 90 MB/s, while the write figure climbs — 12 MB/s at 16 GB, 25 at 32 GB and 28 at this 64 GB. And the larger 128 GB and 256 GB versions publish no figures at all, so buying up from here means losing the stated numbers. This 64 GB is the sweet spot of the range on published data. Note also that the B50 is the thickest of the Blaze drives at 12 mm, which on a laptop with tightly spaced ports can block the neighbouring socket — the B30 is 10.3 mm and the B05 10.0 mm if that matters.
Best For
✓ Everyday transport where knowing the real write speed matters
✓ Anyone who wants both figures published rather than a vague claim
✓ A drive that will not lose a cap — the connector retracts
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Buyers who value a five-year manufacturer term
✓ A drive rated for 10,000 insertions rather than occasional use
Key Features
90 read, 28 write — both published, per capacity
Silicon Power states both figures for this exact 64 GB part number rather than as a family headline. Among Blaze drives that is the exception, not the rule.
Carbon fibre surface
A textured treatment against scratches, dust and fingerprints, on a smooth shape Silicon Power describes as sportscar-like. It stays looking decent longer than gloss plastic.
Retractable, capless
The connector slides into the body when not in use. Nothing detaches, so there is nothing to lose, and the drive is rated for 10,000 insertions.
Wide storage temperature
Rated 0 to 70 °C in use and -40 to 85 °C in storage — considerably wider than most drives at this price, which matters if it lives in a car.

Singular Expert Insight
This is the Blaze to buy if you want numbers you can actually rely on. Silicon Power leaves the speed line blank on the B05 and on several of its other families, but publishes 90 read and 28 write for this exact part — and, more usefully, publishes how the write figure changes with capacity, which is the honest way to do it. The trade-offs are physical: at 12 mm it is the thickest drive in the family and can crowd a neighbouring port, and stepping up to 128 GB means losing the published figures entirely. Within our USB flash drives range this sits in the sensible middle — faster brands exist, but few are as straight about what they are. For large working files rather than carried files, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a 64 GB USB-A stick with both read and write actually published, a capless retracting connector rated for 10,000 insertions, and a five-year Silicon Power term.
Skip it if
You need a USB-C connector for a phone. Your laptop ports are tightly spaced — at 12 mm this is the thickest Blaze. Or you want more than 64 GB with published figures, which the B50 does not offer.
Also consider
Silicon Power Blaze B30 for the same 90/28 in a thinner 4-way rotating body. Silicon Power Blaze B05 if you prefer the matt finish and do not need published speeds. Silicon Power Mobile C31 if you need USB-C.
