The StarTech.com RK12WALLO is a 12U 2-post open-frame rack that mounts on a wall and holds 19-inch patch panels, switches and other shallow network or AV equipment. It suits small offices, shops and AV installations where a floor-standing cabinet would take too much space.
The rack is built from SPCC cold-rolled steel in black, measures 64.1 x 50.4 x 30.5 cm (H x W x D) and supports up to 90 kg of equipment. The rails follow the EIA/ECA-310-E standard with square M6 holes and U markings, and 48 cage nuts and screws are included.
Before you order: Wall-mounting hardware is NOT included - the fixings depend on your wall type. StarTech.com states the wall must support at least four times the weight of the mounted equipment, and the maximum mounting depth is 30.3 cm.

What It Means in Practice
- 12U of mounting space - typically enough for patch panels, a switch, a small router and cable management.
- Open frame, so equipment stays visible and ventilated, and patching is easy from the front.
- Flat-packed, so it is assembled on site and fits easily through doors and into vans.
- Square M6 holes with the supplied cage nuts accept standard 19-inch equipment.
What Will Not Work
- Equipment deeper than about 30 cm, such as servers, NAS units or UPSs - it is a shallow 12-inch rack.
- It offers no physical security - there are no doors, side panels or locks.
- Wall anchors and screws for fixing it to the wall are not included.
- Walls that cannot carry at least four times the equipment weight, such as thin plasterboard without studs.
