StarTech.com MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS — 15-Slot 19-inch Rack-Mount Media Converter Chassis

15 converter slots19-inch rack-mountHot-swap baysDual cooling fans

The StarTech.com MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS is a 15-slot, 19-inch rack-mount chassis that powers and organises StarTech.com MCM series media converters in one place, built for network closets, telecom rooms and data centres running several fibre links. Part number MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS replaces a tangle of individual power adapters with a pre-installed hot-swappable power supply plus a second slot for an optional redundant unit, while each bay stays independently powered so converters can be swapped without downtime.

Compatibility note: The chassis is designed for StarTech.com MCM Media Converter Series modules only and is not compatible with PoE media converters. Converters are sold separately; the redundant power supply (MCM-CHASSIS-PSU) is optional.

Key Features

High-density rack install
Up to 15 MCM converters in one 19-inch rack-mount enclosure, with a rack mounting kit and port covers for unused bays included.

Power you can service
Centralised power with independently powered, electrically isolated bays and over-voltage protection; swap a converter without taking the others down. Add MCM-CHASSIS-PSU for redundancy.

Built for the closet
All-metal chassis with dual cooling fans and front-panel power/fan LEDs, FCC, CE and UL compliant, TAA compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which media converters fit the MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS?
StarTech.com MCM Media Converter Series modules, such as the MCM1110SMLC20 (20 km) and MCM1110SMLC40 (40 km) single-mode Gigabit converters. PoE media converters and other brands are not supported.
Do I still need the converters’ own power adapters?
No. The chassis powers every installed converter from its central supply, so the individual adapters can stay in the box as spares.
What is the difference between the MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS and the MCM7-MEDIA-CHASSIS?
The MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS holds 15 converters in a 19-inch rack and ships with a hot-swap PSU plus a redundant PSU slot; the MCM7-MEDIA-CHASSIS holds 7 converters in a smaller 10-inch rack-mount format.
Singular Expert Insight
The MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS pays off once you run more than a few MCM converters in the same room: one supply, tidy rack mounting and hot-swappable bays make fibre links far easier to maintain than loose converters on a shelf. Size up only if you fill most of the 15 slots; otherwise the MCM7-MEDIA-CHASSIS is the leaner choice. If your fibre ends on switches with SFP ports, an SFP-based network switch may replace converters altogether.
✓ Buy it if you run several StarTech.com MCM converters and want central power and clean 19-inch rack mounting.
✕ Skip it if you only have one or two converters, or you use PoE or non-StarTech.com converters.
→ Also consider the MCM7-MEDIA-CHASSIS (7 slots, 10-inch).
