The StarTech.com 1P6FFCN-USB-C-SERIAL is a 2 m USB-C to RS-232 serial adapter cable with a female DB9 null modem connector, wired so that two DTE devices (for example a laptop and a switch console or another PC) can talk directly without a separate null modem adapter.

It uses the FTDI FT232R chipset with COM port retention, so the same COM number is kept after reboots or re-plugging, and supports up to 921.6 kbps. Transmit, receive and USB status LEDs show activity at a glance, the DB9 comes with interchangeable screws and nuts, and the moulded TPE housing with Level 4 ESD protection is rated from -40 °C to 80 °C.

Compatibility note: Null modem wiring swaps TX/RX and handshake lines. Use it only for DTE-to-DTE links; for a standard DCE device (most modems, many PLCs and instruments) choose the straight-through 1P6FFC-USB-C-SERIAL instead.
