StarTech.com 5G7AIBS-USB-HUB-EU — 7-Port Self-Powered USB Hub with Individual On/Off Switches
Switch and LED on every port7.5 W BC 1.2 on all 7 ports65 W EU/UK adapterUSB-C and USB-A host cables included
The StarTech.com 5G7AIBS-USB-HUB-EU is a seven-port powered USB hub with a switch on every port and 7.5 W of charging on every port at the same time, from a 65 W adapter with EU and UK plugs. It suits a desk or bench where seven devices stay cabled but only some should be live, and where phones, drives and webcams all want power. Both a USB-C and a USB-A host cable are in the box, so it connects to old and new computers alike.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Despite “USB C Hub” in StarTech’s title, all seven device ports are USB-A; USB-C is only the host cable. There is no video and no laptop charging. The per-port switches control power only — StarTech’s datasheet states they do not disable or interrupt data transmission — so a bus-powered device goes off when switched, but for a hard privacy or safety disconnect unplug the cable. The adapter must be connected for the hub to work.
Best For
✓ Benches with devices you switch in and out
✓ Studios with interfaces, controllers and dongles
✓ Desks with a webcam or microphone that should be off between calls
✓ Charging several phones at 7.5 W each
✓ Drives that should power down when idle
✓ Shared workstations with USB-C and USB-A laptops
Key Features
Seven switched ports
Each USB-A port has its own on/off switch and blue LED, so a drive, camera or test device can be powered down without touching the cable.
Full charging on every port
7.5 W (1.5 A) BC 1.2 on all seven ports simultaneously, 52.5 W in total, from the 65 W 20 V adapter; UASP for fast storage on the 5 Gbps ports.
Two host cables included
A 1 m USB-C to USB-B and a 1 m USB-A to USB-B cable are in the box, so the hub moves between a MacBook and an older desktop without an adapter.

Singular Expert Insight
This is the switched hub we recommend for a desk: seven ports is enough for most, every port charges at 7.5 W, and it ships with both host cables. The Lindy 43370 gives ten switched ports but shares 36 W across them; this StarTech gives fewer ports with more power each. Both are in our USB hubs range; our external hard drives are the devices most people put on a switched port. Not sure your computer, monitor or cable fits? Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want seven powered, individually switched USB-A ports with 7.5 W charging on each, and host cables for both USB-C and USB-A computers.
Skip it if
You need USB-C device ports, video, laptop charging, or a switch that hard-disconnects data. Power-only switching, USB-A only.
Also consider
Lindy 43370 for ten switched ports; ST93007U2C if you want two 2.4 A charge ports instead of switches.
