The StarTech.com SIMPLEXSCAPCF is a pack of ten SC to SC simplex fiber optic couplers for single-mode OS1/OS2 fiber with an APC (angled physical contact) polish: small green adapters that join two SC/APC patch cables end to end, or add an SC/APC port to a fiber patch panel, cassette or wall box. Each has a ceramic alignment sleeve for low loss (0.2 dB insertion loss), a PBT housing and a screw-in flange for panel mounting, and supports links from 1 to 100 Gbps across 1260–1625 nm. In practice they are the building blocks for extending, repairing and terminating single-mode runs such as FTTH, PON and data-centre links.

Compatibility — check before buying:
APC only — do not mix with UPC. These couplers are for SC/APC connectors (normally green). Mating a UPC connector (normally blue) into an APC system, or the reverse, causes high loss and can damage the angled end-faces. They are for single-mode OS1/OS2 fiber, not multimode OM1–OM5. The pack contains couplers only — no mounting screws, dust caps or cables are listed. Tell us your connector type and we check it before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it with blue SC/UPC connectors?
No. These are APC couplers for green SC/APC connectors. Mixing APC and UPC connectors causes high loss and can damage the end-faces. Tell us which connectors your cables have.
Does it work with multimode fiber?
It is made for single-mode OS1/OS2 fiber. For multimode OM3/OM4 links, use a multimode coupler.
How are they mounted?
Each coupler has a screw-in flange for panels, cassettes and wall boxes. Screws are not listed in the box, so use those supplied with your panel.
Are these simplex or duplex?
Simplex — each coupler joins one fiber. For a duplex link you use two couplers, or a duplex coupler.
