The StarTech.com MCM1110SMLC20 is a Gigabit Ethernet media converter that turns a copper RJ45 link into single-mode LC duplex fibre for runs of up to 20 km (12.4 mi), aimed at IT teams connecting remote buildings, edge cabinets and industrial sites. Part number MCM1110SMLC20 pairs 10/100/1000 Mbps copper with a 1000BASE-LX 1310 nm optic in a compact all-metal housing that can stand alone, mount on a wall or DIN rail, or slide into a StarTech.com MCM media chassis.

Compatibility note: Media converters work in pairs: the far end needs a matching 20 km single-mode converter or a 1000BASE-LX 1310 nm LC SFP rated for at least the link distance, connected with OS1/OS2 single-mode duplex fibre. The fibre side runs at 1 Gbps only, and the unit does not support PoE or remote management.
