StarTech.com U01043-USB-EXTENDER — 10 m USB 3.0 Extender Hub with 4 Ports
10 m active cable4x USB-A at 5 GbpsBus-powered or 20 W adapter (included)Two units chain to 20 m
The StarTech.com U01043-USB-EXTENDER is a 10 m active USB 3.0 cable with a four-port hub on the far end, so a webcam, conference speaker, printer or keyboard can sit ten metres from the computer at full 5 Gbps. It runs from the computer’s port for light devices, or from the 20 W adapter that is in the box when you connect drives or cameras, and two units can be chained for 20 m.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The 10 m cable is attached to the hub and cannot be replaced. The host end is USB-A; a USB-C laptop needs an adapter. Bus power is enough for keyboards and receivers; for drives, cameras and charging use the included 5 V / 4 A adapter, which raises the per-port supply to about 1 A. StarTech publishes no BC 1.2 charging spec and does not list the adapter’s regional plugs, so check the plug before installation. Maximum two units in series (20 m).
Best For
✓ Webcams and speakerphones across a meeting room
✓ Printers and scanners in the next room
✓ Interactive displays and touch panels
✓ Trade show and event stands
✓ PCs in cabinets with peripherals on the desk
✓ Kiosks where the computer is out of reach
Key Features
Active, not passive
A VIA VL817 repeater hub regenerates the 5 Gbps signal, so USB 3.0 devices work at 10 m where a passive cable would fail; a green LED confirms external power.
Four ports at the far end
Four USB-A ports at 5 Gbps, 4.5 W each on bus power and up to 1 A each with the adapter; Level 2 ESD protection at 4 kV air / 4 kV contact.
Power both ways
Use it bus-powered from the PC, or plug in the included 20 W (5 V / 4 A) adapter; two extender hubs can be chained for 20 m.

Singular Expert Insight
Between the two 10 m extension hubs on this page, the StarTech is the simpler buy: bus power works for light devices, the adapter is in the box, and two units give 20 m. The Lindy 43159 needs its adapter always but chains further with Lindy’s head units. Both are in our USB hubs range, and either will drive a camera or one of our external hard drives at the far end. Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need USB 3.0 devices ten metres from the computer with four ports at the far end, and want bus power for light use plus an adapter in the box.
Skip it if
You need more than 20 m, a USB-C host connector, or a detachable cable.
Also consider
Lindy 43159 for chaining to 40 m; Lindy 42679 for 60 m over Cat.6 at USB 2.0.
