StarTech.com HDMI to DisplayPort 1.4 Active Adapter — 8K 60 Hz with DSC
HDMI → DP 1.48K60 · DSC 1.2aHDR · 10-bitUSB powered
The StarTech.com 148B-HDMI-DP-8K is an active adapter that converts an HDMI output from a PC, laptop, console or media player to a DisplayPort 1.4 input on a monitor, at up to 7680 × 4320 at 60 Hz using DSC 1.2a compression. It is the high-bandwidth option for driving 8K, 5K and high-refresh DisplayPort displays from HDMI sources.
An LT6711GX-U3 converter chip supports HDR, 10-bit deep colour and 4:4:4 chroma, HDCP 1.4/2.2/2.3 and 2-channel audio. The 30 cm adapter is powered through a 50 cm Micro-USB cable (included) from any USB port or charger and works with Windows, macOS, Linux, Ubuntu and ChromeOS.
Compatibility note: Conversion is one way only — HDMI source to DisplayPort display. 8K at 60 Hz relies on DSC, so the monitor must support DSC 1.2a and the source must output an HDMI 2.1 signal; the USB power cable must be connected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the 148B-HDMI-DP-8K run a 4K 144 Hz or 5K DisplayPort monitor from an HDMI 2.1 graphics card or console?
Its DisplayPort 1.4 output with DSC gives it the bandwidth for high-resolution and high-refresh modes; the exact modes depend on what the source outputs over HDMI 2.1 and what the monitor accepts. 4K at 60 Hz works without DSC.
What is the difference between the 148B-HDMI-DP-8K and the 128-HDMI-DISPLAYPORT?
The 128-HDMI-DISPLAYPORT is a DP 1.2 adapter for up to 4K at 60 Hz. The 148B-HDMI-DP-8K has a DP 1.4 output with DSC for 8K at 60 Hz and higher-bandwidth modes — pick it for 8K, 5K or high-refresh monitors.
Singular Expert Insight
The 148B-HDMI-DP-8K is worth the premium over simpler HDMI-to-DP adapters only when the display needs more than 4K60 — 8K panels, 5K professional monitors or high-refresh DisplayPort screens. For a standard 4K60 or 1440p monitor, the 128-HDMI-DISPLAYPORT does the job for less.
✓ Buy it if you want to drive an 8K, 5K or high-refresh DisplayPort monitor from an HDMI 2.1 source.
✕ Skip it if your monitor has an HDMI input — a plain HDMI cable is simpler and needs no power.
