The StarTech.com RJ45COVER is a pack of 100 black PVC covers that snap into unused RJ45 ports on switches, routers, servers and media converters. They keep dust, debris and moisture-borne dirt out of the contacts, and an outward-facing pull tab lets you insert and remove each one without disturbing the cables and ports next to it. In practice they keep spare switch and patch-panel ports clean in racks, workshops and ceiling or floor boxes, and make free ports easy to spot.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a dust cover, not a lock: anyone can pull it out by the tab, so it does not stop someone plugging in a device. If the port must stay closed, choose a keyed RJ45 port blocker such as the Lindy, LogiLink or Smart Keeper packs in this category. It fits standard RJ45 ports; StarTech.com does not publish a fit for RJ11 telephone jacks or for shielded ports with unusual housings. Not sure? Send us the switch model and we check it.
