The StarTech.com CABSCRWS1224 is a 50-pack of 12-24 rack mounting screws in nickel-plated steel, made for server racks and cabinets whose mounting rails are tapped with 12-24 threads rather than using cage nuts. Each screw comes with a washer already fitted, so the head sits flat against the equipment ear and does not scratch the rail finish.
This pack suits IT technicians and installers working on US-style racks, AV cabinets and 10-inch or 19-inch enclosures with threaded posts. Fifty screws is enough to mount around a dozen typical 1U or 2U devices with four screws each, or to keep a spare stock in the rack room for moves and replacements.
Before you order: 12-24 is an imperial thread. It will only work in rails that are threaded 12-24. Most European cabinets use square holes with M6 cage nuts, and these screws will not bite in an M6 cage nut. Check your rail or the old screw before ordering.

- You screw directly into the threaded rail: no cage nuts, no cage-nut tool.

- Rails threaded 10-32 or M5 - the thread pitch does not match and forcing it will damage the rail.
- Heavy equipment that needs a shelf or rails: screws hold the front ears, they do not replace a support shelf for deep servers or UPS units.
