The StarTech.com BLANKB1 is a 1U blank panel for 19-inch server racks and cabinets, made from 1.2 mm cold-rolled steel with a black powder coat, for closing single empty rack units so cooling air passes through your equipment and the rack front looks finished.
It complies with EIA RS-310-C, fixes with two screws, and comes with M6 screws and cage nuts. StarTech.com covers it with a lifetime warranty.
What's in the Box
- 1 × BLANKB1 1U blank panel
- 1 × package of M6 screws and cage nuts (2 sets)
What It Means in Practice
- Closing gaps stops hot exhaust air recirculating to the front of the rack, which lowers equipment inlet temperatures.
- 1U size fills the small gaps left between switches and patch panels.
- M6 hardware is included, so you can fit it straight away in square-hole racks.
- Black matches most servers, switches and cabinets.
What Will Not Work
- It does not fit 10-inch racks.
- It is solid — cables cannot pass through; use a brush panel for that.
- It is screwed in, not tool-less.
- Racks with round or threaded holes need their own screws instead of the included cage nuts.
