It carries 21.6 Gbps with HBR2 signalling, which supports 4K x 2K at 60 Hz (3840 x 2400), 3D stereo at 2560 x 1600 120 Hz, 8-channel audio, Multi-Stream Transport (MST) for daisy-chaining or splitting to multiple displays, and GTC for precise audio channel timing. Compatibility — check before buying:
This is DisplayPort 1.2 at 21.6 Gbps (HBR2), and it is backwards compatible with DP 1.1. What that covers is 4K at 60 Hz, high-refresh output at lower resolutions, and MST for multiple monitors from one port.
