The StarTech.com CABSHELF is a 2U fixed cantilever shelf that mounts on the front rails of a 19-inch rack or cabinet and holds up to 20 kg of non-rackmount equipment. It suits routers, modems, small switches, desktop PCs or monitors that need a stable place in the rack.
It is made from SPCC commercial cold-rolled steel with a black finish and is 406 mm (16 in) deep, with a usable surface of about 443 x 400 mm. StarTech.com states it works with all 19-inch wide server racks and cabinets, including those from APC, Dell, Lenovo and HPE.
Before you order: This is the solid version. StarTech.com also sells a vented version (CABSHELFV). If your equipment runs warm and needs air flow from below, ask us for the vented model instead.

What It Means in Practice
- Cantilever design means it fixes to the front rails only, so it also works on 2-post racks and in cabinets where the rear rails are in use or out of reach.
- A 443 x 400 mm usable surface fits most small network devices and many desktop cases.
- Because all the load hangs from the front, stay within 20 kg and place heavier items towards the rails.
- M6 cage nuts are in the box, so it goes straight into square-hole cabinets.
What Will Not Work
- It does not slide out.
- It is not vented, so it does not help cooling from below.
- It will not carry more than 20 kg.
- It has no cable management features built in.
