The StarTech.com BLANKB2 is a 2U blank panel for 19" server racks and cabinets, made from 1.2 mm SPCC cold-rolled steel with a black powder finish. It fills unused rack space, gives the cabinet a finished front and directs cooling air through the equipment instead of around it.
It conforms to EIA-310 and is fixed with the four sets of M6 screws and cage nuts supplied in the box, so it fits standard 19" square-hole rails.
Before you order: This is a 2U panel fixed with screws. StarTech.com also makes a 1U version (BLANKB1) and tool-less or vented 2U panels — check the height of the gap before ordering.

What It Means in Practice
- 2U is 88 mm high — the space of two 1U devices.
- Closing gaps stops hot exhaust air from recirculating to the front intakes of switches and servers.
- The black powder finish matches most black racks and 19" devices.
- Because the M6 hardware is included, it can go straight into an empty square-hole rail position.
What Will Not Work
- It does not fit 10" racks — it is for 19" rails only.
- It is not vented and does not let cables pass through.
- It is not tool-less; a screwdriver is required.
