StarTech.com HB31C3A1CS — 4-Port USB-C Hub, 10 Gbps, Self-Powered
10 Gbps on all four portsPowered by a 24 W adapterAlways-on fast-charge portAluminium, mountable
The StarTech.com HB31C3A1CS is a powered four-port USB-C hub: three USB-A and one USB-C, all at 10 Gbps, fed by its own 24 W adapter so external SSDs, capture devices and card readers get full power instead of fighting over a laptop port. It is a desk hub rather than a travel one, with a 1 m detachable host cable, an aluminium case and mounting holes for StarTech’s dock mounts.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This hub does not charge the laptop and has no video output: StarTech states no PD pass-through and lists no DP Alt Mode. Its job is data and device power. The host cable is USB-C; it plugs into USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 ports on Windows, Mac, Linux laptops and USB-C tablets such as iPad Pro. The downstream USB-C port is data only.
Best For
✓ Desktop workstations with 10 Gbps external SSDs
✓ Content creators with card readers and capture devices
✓ Laptops that need stable power for bus-hungry devices
✓ iPad Pro and USB-C tablets that need USB-A peripherals
✓ Government and enterprise purchasing (TAA compliant)
✓ Fixed installations using StarTech dock mounts
Key Features
Four ports at 10 Gbps
USB 3.2 Gen 2 on every port with UASP, driven by a Realtek RTS5423 controller, so a USB-C NVMe enclosure or a UHS-II reader keeps its speed.
Powered, not bus-limited
The included 12 V / 2 A adapter with EU, UK, NA/JP and ANZ clips supplies 4.5 W to each port plus an always-on BC 1.2 port at 1.5 A for a phone.
Built to stay put
Aluminium and plastic housing, 84 g, with mounting holes for StarTech’s SSPMSVESA-type mounts so it can live under the desk or behind the monitor.

Singular Expert Insight
Choose the HB31C3A1CS when the hub lives on the desk and speed plus stable power matter more than charging the laptop: 10 Gbps on all four ports and a real power adapter are what keep an external SSD from dropping out mid-copy. If you need video and laptop charging on the move, the HB31C3A1CDPPD3 from the same family is the one to pick; if you need seven ports, the HB30C5A2CST. All are in our USB hubs range. Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want four 10 Gbps ports with their own power adapter for SSDs, readers and capture devices on a desk, from a USB-C laptop or tablet.
Skip it if
You need the hub to charge the laptop or output video, or you want something pocketable without a power brick.
Also consider
HB31C3A1CDPPD3 for video and 100 W pass-through; HB30C5A2CST for seven ports at 5 Gbps in a metal case.
