The StarTech.com DVISPL1DD is a 30.5 cm passive Y-cable with one DVI-D Dual Link male plug and two DVI-D Dual Link female sockets, for sending the same image from a single DVI-D output to two monitors or projectors. It uses 28 AWG wiring with foil and braid shielding, gold-plated connectors and a PVC jacket, and carries a StarTech lifetime warranty.
Compatibility Note: This is a passive splitter: both displays show the same picture, it cannot extend the desktop, and StarTech does not recommend resolutions above 1920x1200. It works best plugged directly into a graphics card DVI port and may not work behind HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C to DVI adapters or docks.

No. A passive splitter sends the identical signal to both outputs, so the two screens always mirror each other. To extend the desktop you need a second video output or a multi-monitor adapter.
What cables do I need with the StarTech.com DVISPL1DD?
Two DVI-D male-to-male cables, one from each female socket to each display. StarTech suggests its DVIDDMM6 cable, and any DVI-D cable such as the DVIDDMM2M works.
