StarTech.com HB30C5A2CST — 7-Port USB-C Hub, Aluminium, Self-Powered and Mountable
5x USB-A + 2x USB-CMetal case with brackets36 W adapter and power switch1 m USB-C host cable
The StarTech.com HB30C5A2CST is a seven-port USB-C hub in an aluminium case: four USB-A data ports, one USB-A charging port and two USB-C ports at 5 Gbps, powered by a 36 W adapter and fitted with mounting brackets and a master power switch. It is the commercial version of a desk hub — built to be screwed under a counter or into a kiosk and left there.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This hub gives you ports, not video or laptop charging: StarTech states it does not support DP Alt Mode or USB Power Delivery, and the two USB-C ports are data only. It connects to a USB-C host through the included 1 m USB-C to USB-B cable. The charging port is BC 1.2; StarTech’s page says up to 2.4 A while its spec table lists 7.5 W, so plan on 7.5 W. The operating range is 5–35 °C.
Best For
✓ Counters, kiosks and fixed installations
✓ Desks that mix USB-A and USB-C peripherals
✓ Workstations from a USB-C laptop or iPad Pro
✓ Powering drives, readers and webcams reliably
✓ Shared PCs with a master power switch
✓ Environments where a plastic hub would break
Key Features
Seven ports, both connectors
Four USB-A 5 Gbps ports, two USB-C 5 Gbps ports and a BC 1.2 charging port on a VIA VL817-Q7 controller, so new and old peripherals meet on one hub.
Mount it and forget it
Aluminium housing, two mounting brackets with screws and rubber feet in the box; a power switch on the hub turns every device off at once.
Its own power
A 12 V / 3 A universal adapter with NA/JP, UK, EU and ANZ plugs shares 36 W across the ports so bus-powered drives stay stable.

Singular Expert Insight
Pick the HB30C5A2CST when the hub is part of the furniture: metal, brackets, a power switch and a real adapter. Its sibling HB30C5A2CSC is the plastic desk version of the same port layout at 48 W, and the HB31C3A1CS is the choice if 10 Gbps matters more than seven ports. Compare them in our USB hubs range; a couple of our external SSDs will run happily on the powered ports. Not sure your computer, monitor or cable fits? Tell us the model and we check it before you order.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want seven powered ports mixing USB-A and USB-C, in a metal case you can mount, with a master switch and the adapter included.
Skip it if
You need video, laptop charging or 10 Gbps, or the hub will live somewhere colder than 5 °C or warmer than 35 °C.
Also consider
HB30C5A2CSC (plastic, 48 W) for a desk; HB31C3A1CS for four ports at 10 Gbps.
