The StarTech.com GLCT10PKST is a pack of ten copper SFP modules that turn SFP ports into Gigabit RJ-45 ports, reaching up to 100 m on Cat5e or Cat6 cable. Each module is programmed as a Cisco GLC-T, so Cisco switches, routers and firewalls that check optics accept it. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This article is ten modules; the single one is GLCTST. It is coded as a Cisco GLC-T, and StarTech lists 1000 Mbps only — a 10/100 device at the far end will not link. If you need 10/100 as well, tell us the device and we find a module that supports it. For HPE switches the equivalent 10-pack is J8177C10PKST. Not sure?
