The StarTech.com MDP2DVI3 is a passive adapter with a Mini DisplayPort 1.2 male plug on a 13 cm cable and a DVI-I female socket, for connecting a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 1/2 laptop or PC to a DVI monitor or projector. It outputs digital single-link DVI at up to 1920x1200, is HDCP compliant and measures 17.5 cm overall.
Compatibility Note: Being passive, the adapter only works with Mini DisplayPort ports that support DP++ (dual-mode); DP-only ports and some docks need an active adapter. Despite the 29-pin DVI-I socket the output is digital only, so it cannot feed a VGA monitor through a DVI-to-VGA adapter. No audio is carried.

Can the StarTech.com MDP2DVI3 drive a 2560x1600 dual-link monitor?
No. It outputs single-link DVI, so the maximum is 1920x1200. A dual-link monitor needs an active dual-link adapter.
