The D-Link DGS-1530-28S/E is a Smart Managed fibre switch with24 Gigabit SFP slots and four10G SFP+ slots. VLANs, link aggregation, security controls and static routing support configured business networks. Physical stacking supports compatible multi-switch deployments. The non-PoE chassis has an internal AC supply and two smart fans.

Best For: Managed fibre aggregation and campus networks needing24 Gigabit SFP links,10G uplinks and an administrator-defined VLAN or stack design.
Before you order: This S model has24 SFP slots, not24 copper RJ45 ports. Its RJ45 connector is console management only. There is no PoE output. Buy compatible transceivers, fibre and DAC/stack cables separately and match speed, fibre type and link distance. Stacking consumes10G ports. Optional DPS-500A redundant power and its appropriate connection cable are separate. Two fans mean this is not a silent fanless desk switch.

  • RJ45-to-RS232 console cable, four adhesive rubber feet and mounting kit with two brackets and screws.
  • Quick Installation Guide. Transceivers, fiber, DAC/stack cables, external redundant supply and network patch leads are separate.

What It Means in Practice

  • Fit compatible Gigabit SFP modules for the24 downlinks;use the fourSFP+ slots for supported10G uplinks or stacking.
  • Configure VLANs, LACP, spanning-tree, ACLs and QoS according to the actual network topology.
  • Use web management, CLI or supported SNMP tools with an appropriate administrator configuration.
  • Plan physical stacks with compatible models, firmware and cabling;ports allocated to stacking are unavailable for ordinary uplinks.
  • Install on a desktop with the supplied feet or in a19-inch rack, allowing fan airflow and cable access.

What Will Not Work

  • No copper RJ45 network data ports are built in. The RJ45console is not a normal Ethernet client port.
  • No PoE output;the DGS-1530-28P is a different model.
  • Static IPv4/IPv6 routing is supported;this does not establish a full dynamic-routing feature set.
  • Fabric and forwarding figures are manufacturer switching specifications, not a guaranteed end-to-end application throughput.
