Targus CityGear 3 Topload Laptop Case — 12″ to 14″ with Dome Protection System
Fits 12″ – 14″Dome Protection SystemTrolley strap0.95 kg
The Targus CityGear 3 topload laptop case, part number TCG455GL, is the compact member of the CityGear topload family, built for notebooks from 12 to 14 inches. Targus wraps the laptop and tablet compartments in its Dome Protection System, shock-absorbing layers that spread the pressure of an impact instead of letting it land on one corner of the machine. A comfort-padded grab handle, a padded shoulder strap and a trolley pass-through strap cover how most people carry a case, and zipped mesh pockets keep chargers and cables away from the laptop. It is the same case as the larger TCG460GL, one size down. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Laptop fit: Targus rates this case for 12″ to 14″ notebooks and publishes a laptop compartment of 34.9 x 24.9 x 2.5 cm. A 15.6″ machine will not fit — that is the TCG460GL. Dimension warning: Targus publishes two different sets of external dimensions for this part number. The UK site states 37.5 x 9 x 29 cm and 0.95 kg; the South African site and the English datasheet state 41 x 10.8 x 31.4 cm and 1.05 kg, which are byte-identical to the figures for the larger TCG460GL and therefore look like a copied data-sheet entry rather than a real measurement. We publish the UK figures as the reliable ones and list both below. Not an EcoSmart product: the CityGear 3 line carries no recycled-content claim. Protection: this model uses the Dome Protection System, not SafePort, and Targus publishes no drop-height rating.
Best For
✓ Commuters carrying a 13″ or 14″ ultrabook
✓ Users of a 13″ or 14″ MacBook who want a briefcase, not a sleeve
✓ Travellers who slide a small case over a trolley handle
✓ Offices standardising on one compact case across a laptop fleet
Key Features
Dome Protection System
Shock-absorbing layers surround the laptop and tablet compartments and dissipate the pressure of a knock across a wider area rather than concentrating it. Targus publishes no drop-height figure for this system.
Sized for 12 to 14 inch laptops
Multi-Fit compatibility holds notebooks between 12 and 14 inches in a laptop compartment measuring 34.9 x 24.9 x 2.5 cm, so a compact ultrabook does not slide around inside an oversized case.
Three ways to carry
A comfort-padded grab handle for the short walk, a padded shoulder strap for the commute, and a trolley pass-through strap that slides the case onto the handle of a wheeled suitcase.
Separate space for the clutter
Zipped mesh pockets and compartments keep a charger, cables and a mouse apart from the laptop and the tablet. Targus does not publish an itemised pocket list or pocket dimensions for this model.

Singular Expert Insight
If you carry a 13″ or 14″ ultrabook and want something more protective than a sleeve but less bulky than a full 15.6″ briefcase, this is the obvious size. Everything about the construction matches the larger TCG460GL — the same Poly/PU shell, the same Dome Protection System, the same trolley strap and the same Limited Lifetime Warranty from Targus — so the choice between the two is purely which laptop you own. One thing to watch: Targus’s own published external dimensions for this part number contradict each other between regions, and the larger set is character-for-character identical to the bigger case’s figures, which is a strong hint that it was copied rather than measured. Use the UK figures of 37.5 x 9 x 29 cm and 0.95 kg. Note also that CityGear is not part of the Targus recycled-materials programme, so if EcoSmart is on your requirements list this range will not satisfy it. Browse our full laptop case range, and a compact docking station pairs well with a small case because it keeps the cables off your shoulder.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
Your laptop is between 12 and 14 inches, you want a compact padded briefcase rather than a sleeve or a backpack, and you value a trolley pass-through strap and a Limited Lifetime Warranty from the manufacturer.
Skip it if
Your laptop is 15.6 inches or larger, you need recycled materials, or you require consistent published dimensions and a stated drop rating before you order.
Also consider
The Targus TCG460GL for 14 to 15.6 inch laptops or the TCG470GL for 15 to 17.3 inch, and the Targus Sagano EcoSmart range if recycled fabric is a requirement.
