Targus Cypress EcoSmart Security Backpack 15.6" — Rear-Access Anti-Pickpocket Design
Up to 15.6" laptops21 L capacityRear-opening main compartment17 recycled bottles
The Targus Cypress Security Backpack with EcoSmart (TBB58802GL) is a 21-litre commuter backpack for laptops up to 15.6", designed so that nobody behind you can open it: the single main compartment opens from the back panel, against your body, and there are no external zips or pockets.
The fabric is made from 17 recycled plastic water bottles, and a structured shell keeps the bag standing upright on the floor of an office, train or café.
Before you order: Laptop compartment is 38.7 x 26.5 x 2.5 cm. Most 15.6" laptops fit; check larger 16" models and thick gaming laptops before ordering.
What's in the Box
- 1x Targus Cypress EcoSmart Security Backpack 15.6", grey
What It Means in Practice
- You open the bag by taking it off your back — ideal for crowded public transport and city centres.
- No external pockets means everything goes inside: plan for a phone and keys inside the main compartment.
- The structured body stands upright, so you can load it at your desk without it collapsing.
- The trolley pass-through slides over a suitcase handle when travelling.
What Will Not Work
- Quick access to items while wearing the bag — there are no outside pockets by design.
- 16" or 17.3" laptops that exceed the 38.7 x 26.5 cm compartment.
- Heavy multi-day travel loads — at 21 L it is a daily commuter backpack.
- Waterproofing — the bag is not specified as waterproof.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The Cypress Security Backpack trades convenience for peace of mind: everything is inside one rear-opening compartment, so it suits city commuters more than people who need quick-grab pockets. If you prefer front pockets and more organisation, the Cypress Hero is the better choice. Keep a second charger at the office — see our laptop power supplies.
✓ Buy it if you commute on crowded transport and want a backpack that cannot be opened while you wear it.
✕ Skip it if you need quick-access external pockets or carry a 17" laptop.
→ Also consider Targus Cypress EcoSmart Hero Backpack 15.6" (TBB58602GL) for more pockets and organisation.
