Targus Drifter TSB238EU — 32 L Laptop Backpack for 15.6-16 inch Machines
32 L capacityLaptop bay 387 × 25 × 265 mmWater-resistant baseHidden lumbar pocket
The Targus Drifter TSB238EU is a 32-litre padded laptop backpack that carries a 15.6-16 inch notebook in a dedicated 387 × 25 × 265 mm compartment, aimed at commuters and students who want a large, heavily padded everyday pack rather than a slim business bag. It is supplied under Targus part number TSB238EU in black and grey, with a water-resistant base, a wire-reinforced grab handle and a hidden zippered lumbar-support compartment in the back panel. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Screen size: Targus contradicts itself on this model. The spec tables on both eu.targus.com and targus.com/za label it a 15.6 inch backpack, while the product URL and the marketing copy say up to 16 inch. The published laptop-compartment envelope of 387 × 25 × 265 mm does accommodate a typical 16 inch machine, so we list it as 15.6-16 inch and recommend measuring your notebook against those figures before buying.
Exterior dimensions: Targus publishes two different sets from its own regional sites — 370 × 200 × 480 mm (EU) and 360 × 120 × 490 mm (ZA). Treat the exterior figures as approximate.
No tablet compartment is published for this bag, and Targus does not publish an in-the-box list.
Bottle pockets and an air-mesh back panel appear only on the Targus South Africa page, not on the EU page for this part number — do not count on them.

Best For
✓ Students carrying a 15.6-16 inch laptop plus books
✓ Daily commuters who prefer a large, well-padded pack

✓ Users who need a bag that holds more than a slim sleeve
✓ Buyers on a budget who still want a padded laptop bay
✓ Carrying a laptop, charger and a change of clothes together
Key Features
32 litres of usable volume
At 32 L this is a large pack by laptop-backpack standards — roughly 50 percent more than a typical 20 L business backpack. It swallows a notebook, charger, folders and gym kit without needing a second bag.
Dedicated padded laptop bay
A separate compartment measuring 387 × 25 × 265 mm keeps the notebook away from the main load. Targus describes superior internal padding around it, and a wire-reinforced grab handle keeps the top of the bag from collapsing onto the machine.
Water-resistant base
Targus makes a narrow, specific claim here: the base is water resistant. That protects the bag when you set it down on wet ground, but it is not a whole-bag weather claim and there is no rain cover.
Hidden lumbar compartment
The EU product page lists a hidden zippered lumbar-support compartment inside the back panel — a discreet place for a passport, wallet or keys that sits against your back rather than facing outwards.

Singular Expert Insight
The Drifter sits at the value end of Targus’s range and it is honest about what it is: a big, soft, well-padded 32-litre pack with one strong idea — volume — and one genuinely useful detail, the hidden lumbar pocket. What it does not have is the organiser architecture, RFID pocket or recycled-material story of newer Targus lines, and its water claim covers only the base. If those matter to you, look at the EcoSmart or CityGear models in our laptop cases range instead. If you simply need one bag that carries a 16 inch machine and everything else you own, this is a lot of litres for the money — pair it with the right machine from our laptops section. Be aware that several UK resellers list this part number as a “Drifter II”; Targus does not, and Drifter II is a different generation.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You carry a 15.6-16 inch laptop plus books, chargers and kit and want one large 32 L bag rather than two small ones, with a discreet hidden pocket for valuables.
Skip it if
You need a slim professional bag, a real weatherproof shell, an RFID pocket, a tablet sleeve or a recycled-material product — the Drifter publishes none of those.
Also consider
A Targus EcoSmart or CityGear backpack if you want recycled content, RFID protection and a front organiser, or a DICOTA Eco backpack if a published litre figure and a long manufacturer warranty matter more than raw volume.
