Targus ACH114EU — 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub
4 x USB-A at 480 MbpsBus-poweredAttached cable30 g and 85 mm long
The Targus ACH114EU turns one USB-A port into four. It is a 30-gram plastic bar 85 mm long with the host cable permanently attached and wrapped around the body, so there is nothing loose to lose and nothing to plug into the wall. Targus rates it at 480 Mbps and it needs no drivers on any current operating system.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Read this part before ordering. All four ports are USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps — this is not a 5 Gbps hub. A memory stick, a mouse, a keyboard, a wireless receiver or a licence dongle will not notice; an external SSD or a fast card reader plugged in here will run at roughly a tenth of its normal speed. If you need 5 Gbps with the same four USB-A ports, Targus makes the ACH119EU, and the ACH226EU is the version that plugs into USB-C instead. The ACH114EU host plug is USB-A, so a laptop with only USB-C ports cannot use it without an adapter. It is bus-powered with no DC socket at all, so power cannot be added later and it will not run several hungry devices at once. Targus publishes no per-port current figure and no cable length.
Best For
✓ Adding mouse, keyboard, receiver and dongle ports to a laptop
✓ Travel — 30 g with nothing extra to carry
✓ Flash drives, card readers and printers
✓ A tidy desk where the cable must not dangle loose
✓ Older desktops that have run out of front USB ports
Key Features
Four USB 2.0 ports from one
480 Mbps shared across the four sockets, which is exactly right for input devices, dongles and flash drives. Backward compatible with USB 1.1 peripherals.
Cable that stores itself
The host lead is permanently attached and clips around the base of the hub for transport. Targus sells this as a feature and it is one — but it also means the lead cannot be replaced if it fails.
No power adapter needed
The hub draws everything it needs from the laptop port. There is nothing to pack, nothing to plug into a socket and no adapter to lose.
Nothing to install
Plug it in and it works on Windows, macOS and Linux. Targus lists compatibility back to Windows 2000 and validated macOS up to 10.13.6.

Singular Expert Insight
This is a deliberately plain hub and it should be judged as one. At 30 grams with a captive cable it is the thing you leave in a laptop bag and forget about, and for flash drives, receivers and input devices the USB 2.0 limit never shows. The trap is the name: “4-Port USB Hub” says nothing about generation, and a buyer who assumes 5 Gbps will be unhappy the first time they copy a folder from an external SSD. Decide on that one point and the rest follows — if speed matters, this is not the model.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want four cheap reliable USB-A ports for a mouse, keyboard, dongles and memory sticks, in something light enough to forget in a bag.
Skip it if
Skip it if you will plug in an SSD or hard drive, if you need a known cable length, or if your laptop only has USB-C ports.
Also consider
Targus ACH119EU for the same four ports at 5 Gbps, or ACH226EU if your machine has USB-C only.
