Targus HyperDrive Next USB4 Type-C Performance Cable, 1.2 m, White

240W charging1.2 mUSB4 40 GbpsWhite

The Targus HyperDrive Next HD6500WHGL is a 1.2 m white USB4 Type-C cable that does everything a USB-C port can: 40 Gbps data, up to 240W charging under USB Power Delivery 3.1, and video up to 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 144Hz. It carries e-marker chips and over-temperature protection, and its jacket and housings use 35% recycled TPE. In practice it is the one cable for a USB4 or Thunderbolt laptop that connects to a dock, a USB-C monitor or a fast external SSD, while charging the laptop through the same connector — long enough to reach from a desk to a monitor stand.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Full speed needs matching hardware at both ends. 240W charging works only with a USB PD 3.1 EPR charger and a device that accepts 240W — HYPER states that only compatible USB-C devices supporting the USB PD protocol charge up to 240W. 40 Gbps needs USB4 or Thunderbolt ports on both sides, and video needs a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode. Targus does not publish Thunderbolt certification for this cable, so for a Thunderbolt 5 dock or drive ask us first. Not sure what your laptop port supports? Send us the model and we check.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a Thunderbolt cable?
Targus sells it as a USB4 cable and does not publish Thunderbolt certification. USB4 cables usually work with Thunderbolt 4 hosts, but for a Thunderbolt 5 dock or drive at full speed ask us before ordering.
Will my monitor run at 4K 144Hz?
The cable carries it; your laptop’s USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode at that bandwidth and the monitor must accept it over USB-C. Send us both models and we check.
Will it charge at 240W?
Only when both the charger and the device support USB PD 3.1 EPR. HYPER states that only compatible USB-C devices supporting the USB PD protocol charge up to 240W; others charge at their own maximum.
What is in the box?
The 1.2 m USB4 cable and a user guide. No charger or adapter is included.
Singular Expert Insight
We suggest the HD6500WHGL whenever a USB-C cable must carry more than power: docks, monitors and SSDs need the 40 Gbps and video lanes that charging cables such as the HJ4001WHGL do not have. Keep it for the desk and use a silicone HyperJuice cable in the bag. See our docking stations and external SSDs that need a cable like this.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You connect a dock, monitor or fast SSD over USB-C and want charging in the same cable.

Skip it if

You only charge a phone or laptop — a HyperJuice charging cable costs less.
