The TECHly IDATA-HDMI-EA is an HDMI audio extractor that passes the HDMI video through to a TV or projector while sending the audio to a separate amplifier, soundbar or speaker system through Toslink (S/PDIF) and RCA stereo outputs. Part number IDATA-HDMI-EA suits older AV receivers without HDMI, conference room speaker systems and projectors that have no audio output.

A mode switch selects pass-through, 2.0CH stereo or 5.1CH Dolby Digital on the optical output, and the unit supports video up to 1080p with deep colour.

Compatibility note: This model is for Full HD (up to 1080p at 60 Hz, 6.75 Gbps) sources. It is not suitable for 4K; the 4K version is TECHly IDATA-HDMI-EA4K. The RCA output carries 2-channel audio only; 5.1 is available on Toslink.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the TECHly IDATA-HDMI-EA work with a 4K TV or 4K Blu-ray player?
It passes video up to 1080p, so it will limit a 4K source to Full HD. For 4K sources use the TECHly IDATA-HDMI-EA4K.
Can I connect it to an old stereo amplifier?
Yes. Set the switch to 2.0CH and connect the amplifier to the RCA L/R outputs; the TV keeps receiving the HDMI signal.
Why is there no 5.1 sound on the RCA outputs?
RCA carries two analogue channels only. Multichannel Dolby Digital 5.1 is available on the Toslink optical output, which needs a receiver with an optical input.
