TELESTAR TOP 500 — DAB+ & Internet Radio Hi-Fi Tuner

43 cm hi-fi widthNeeds an amplifierRCA / optical / coaxWi-Fi & LAN

The TELESTAR TOP 500 (part number 5700500) is a full-width 43 cm hi-fi tuner that brings DAB+, FM and internet radio into an existing stereo system. It has line and digital outputs only — analogue RCA, optical S/PDIF and coaxial S/PDIF — so it connects to an amplifier or AV receiver, and it matches the width of standard hi-fi components. It connects to the network over Wi-Fi or a LAN cable, supports Bluetooth in both directions, UPnP and USB playback and recording, and has a front USB port and headphone jack. A 3.2-inch colour display and a remote control handle everyday use, with up to five alarms and a sleep timer. In practice, it is the radio component for a hi-fi rack: it sits between the CD player and the amplifier and adds every radio source in one box.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The TOP 500 makes no sound on its own: it has no amplifier and no speakers, so it needs an amplifier or AV receiver. There is also no CD drive. For a component with a built-in 2 × 30 W amplifier and CD player that drives passive speakers directly, choose the TOP 550 — the two look alike, so check the code before you order. TELESTAR builds this model for the German market and does not state the plug type of the power adapter. Cyprus uses UK three-pin (BS 1363) sockets, so ask us and we confirm the plug and supply a suitable adapter if one is needed. DAB+ reception depends on transmitter coverage where you use it; where there is no DAB+ signal, FM still works. Not sure it suits your setup? Tell us how you want to use it and we check before you order.
