The TP-Link MC110CS is a Fast Ethernet media converter that turns a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 copper port into 100Base-FX over single-mode fibre with SC/UPC connectors, reaching up to 20 km at 1310 nm.
It forwards at full wire speed with full-duplex flow control (802.3x) and half-duplex backpressure, and can run standalone or be installed in the TP-Link MC1400 rack chassis together with other converters.
Before you order: the fibre side is 100Base-FX single-mode SC at 1310 nm. The far end must be the same — typically a second MC110CS.

What It Means in Practice
- Copper side: 10/100 Mbps RJ45 with auto-MDI/MDIX, up to 100 m over Cat5/5e. Fibre side: single-mode SC/UPC duplex patch cord to the fibre run.
- At the far end you need the same fibre interface: a second MC110CS (or another single-mode SC converter at 1310 nm) or a switch port with a matching 100BASE-FX optic.
- Maximum power draw is 2.4 W; LEDs show power and link/activity.
- It is a plug-and-play, unmanaged converter: no IP address or configuration, it simply passes Ethernet frames between copper and fibre.
What Will Not Work
- Gigabit links — the fibre side is fixed at 100 Mbps; a 1000BASE-X SFP port on a switch will not link to it.
- Multimode fibre — this is a single-mode converter.
- SC/APC (green) connectors — the port is SC/UPC.
- Power over Ethernet — the RJ45 port neither supplies nor takes PoE power.
- VLAN, monitoring or any managed features — this is an unmanaged converter.
