TP-Link Tapo L520E Smart Wi-Fi LED Bulb — E27, 806 lm, 4000K
Smart Wi-Fi bulbE27 · 8 W806 lm · 4000KNo hub
The TP-Link Tapo L520E is a smart Wi-Fi LED bulb for standard E27 lamp holders that gives 806 lumens of 4000K daylight-white light and is controlled from the Tapo app or by voice — for homes, home offices and small businesses that want app control without installing a hub.
It connects directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, can be dimmed from 20 to 806 lm in the app, and runs on schedules, sunrise/sunset timers and an away mode that switches lights to make a property look occupied. Power draw is 8 W, the equivalent of a 60 W incandescent bulb.
Before you order: The bulb needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network — it cannot join a 5 GHz-only network. If your router combines both bands under one name and setup fails, send us the router model and we will tell you how to set it up.
What's in the Box
- 1 × TP-Link Tapo L520E smart Wi-Fi LED bulb (E27)
- Quick Start Guide
- No hub or bridge is needed or included
What It Means in Practice
- 806 lm is the brightness of a classic 60 W bulb; dimming in the app goes down to 20 lm for a night-light level.
- 4000K daylight white is crisp and neutral — good for kitchens, home offices, workshops and reception desks; for a cosier living-room tone a warm white bulb is usually preferred.
- Schedules and sunrise/sunset timers switch the light on and off automatically, so entrances and hallways are lit when you arrive.
- Away mode turns lights on and off at varied times while you are away, so the property looks occupied.
- Control works from anywhere through the Tapo app, and by voice with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
What Will Not Work
- It will not work on a 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi network.
- If the wall switch is turned off, the bulb loses power and cannot be controlled from the app — leave the switch on and use the app or voice. Dimming is done in the app, so keep the bulb on a normal switch rather than a wall dimmer.
- It does not change colour or colour temperature — the light stays at 4000K.
- Apple Home (HomeKit) is not listed among the supported platforms, and it does not fit E14, GU10 or bayonet (B22) sockets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a hub or a TP-Link router?
No. The L520E connects directly to any 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router; no hub, bridge or TP-Link router is required.
Does it still work if the internet is down?
It needs your Wi-Fi network for app control; remote and voice control depend on an internet connection. The wall switch still turns it on and off at full power.
How many bulbs can I add?
Each bulb is a separate Wi-Fi device in the Tapo app, so you can group several bulbs and control them together — send us the number of rooms and we will suggest a setup.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The L520E is the simplest way to make an existing E27 light smart: no hub, a clear 806 lm output and dependable schedules. Because it relies on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, a solid signal where the bulb sits matters more than anything else — if coverage is weak, look at our
routers before adding many smart devices.
✓ Buy it if you want app, schedule and voice control of a daylight-white E27 light without installing a hub.
✕ Skip it if you need warm white or colour light, Apple Home support, or your network is 5 GHz only.
→ Also consider Ultron save-E E27 10W dimmable (138119) if you only need a warm white bulb on a wall dimmer, without app control.
Not sure it fits your setup? Send us your router model and lamp holder type and we will check compatibility before you order.
