The TP-Link VIGI C240I with the 4 mm lens is a 4MP infrared dome network camera for businesses, shops and homes that want a wired, recorder-based CCTV system rather than a cloud gadget. It is an infrared model: in the dark it switches to a sharp black-and-white picture lit by two IR LEDs up to 30 m, and its IK10 housing withstands kicks and blows in reachable places such as corridors, stairwells and entrances. It is powered over the network cable from a PoE switch, records to a VIGI NVR or any ONVIF recorder, and is managed from the free VIGI app or VIGI Security Manager software. Part number VIGI C240I(4MM) is the 4 mm version; the same camera is sold with other lenses, so check the field of view below before you order.
Compatibility — check before buying:
In the box: camera, quick start guide, waterproof cable attachments, mounting accessories. Not in the box: PoE switch or injector, 12 V power adapter, network cable, NVR. Power is not included: you need an 802.3af/at PoE switch or injector, or a 12 V DC adapter (5.5 mm plug). There is no memory-card slot — recording needs a VIGI NVR or another ONVIF recorder. It has no Wi-Fi; it needs a network cable to a switch. C240I is not the C240. The C240 has white lights and shows colour at night; the C240I is infrared-only and shows black and white. It is not a motorised pan/tilt camera: the 3-axis bracket (pan 0–355°, tilt 0–75°) is set by hand at installation. Not sure it fits your setup? The C240I is the dome we suggest for places a camera can be reached or hit — its IK10 rating is the point of it. It is infrared-only and has no card slot, so it belongs in an NVR system; if you want colour at night, the VIGI C250 is the 5MP full-colour dome, and for a driveway the C340 bullet adds colour and talk-back. For power, pick one of our PoE switches.

Buy it if
You need a tough, low-power 4MP dome for a corridor, entrance or car park that records to a VIGI NVR, and black-and-white night footage is fine.

You want the camera to record on its own to a memory card, colour footage at night (C240 or C250), or two-way talk.
