Transcend JetFlash 700 TS64GJF700 64 GB USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A Flash Drive Slim One-Piece Body 8.5 g Black 5-Year Warranty

???? This drive is not hardware-encrypted, whatever a listing may say. Some catalogue entries describe the JetFlash 700 as an encrypted drive. Transcend publishes no encryption feature for it at all — no AES engine, no keypad, no security controller. What exists is the free Transcend Elite utility, which runs on your computer and can create a password-protected encrypted folder on any drive, this one included. That is software on the host, not security in the hardware. If your reason for buying is that files must be protected if the drive is lost, this is the wrong product and we will quote you a genuinely encrypted one. ???? Do not confuse it with the Transcend JetFlash 350. Transcend publishes the same 61.5 mm body and the same 8.5 g weight for both, both are black, and a photograph will not tell them apart — but the JetFlash 350 is USB 2.0, roughly five times slower in practice, while this JetFlash 700 is USB 3.1 Gen 1. If the two are close on price, this is the one to take. Transcend publishes no read or write speed for the JetFlash 700 at any capacity, so there is no figure to compare it on. Note also that Transcend documents the JetFlash 700 and 730 on one shared datasheet, listing black and white for the pair without saying which model is which — order by part number, not by colour. Transcend publishes no keyring loop for the 700 (the JetFlash 790 does have one), no housing material and no operating temperature.

The JetFlash 700 is a deliberately plain drive and that is its strength: nothing to break, 8.5 g, and Transcend’s five-year warranty, which is longer cover than most drives at this price carry. The real limitation is documentation rather than hardware — Transcend publishes no transfer speeds anywhere in its consumer JetFlash line, so you are buying an interface rather than a measured figure. For handing documents around, that is fine. Where it genuinely matters is against its own lookalike: the JetFlash 350 is the same body at USB 2.0, and if a supplier quotes you both at similar prices, this is the one to take. Tell us what the drives are for and how many you need, and we will price it properly.
