The TRENDnet TC-NT2 Network Cable Tester checks Ethernet, telephone and BNC coax cables for open, short-circuited and cross-connected pins, for technicians who verify patch cords and installed runs up to 300 m (984 ft). It supports Cat 3 to Cat 7 cable and 10/100/1000Base-T, 10Base-2, T568A/B and Token Ring pin-outs.

The transmitter offers auto and manual scan plus a 600–800 Hz tone, while the battery-free remote terminator shows results on its own LED row at the far end.

Good to know: The transmitter needs one 9 V battery, which is not included. Testing USB or IEEE 1394 cables requires the optional TRENDnet TC-NTUF adapter.

Does the TRENDnet TC-NT2 test PoE or measure cable length?
No. It verifies wiring (opens, shorts and cross-connected pins) up to 300 m, but it has no PoE test and no length measurement. For inline PoE readings use the TRENDnet TC-NTP1.
What replaced the TRENDnet TC-NT3?
TRENDnet lists the TC-NT2 (v1.1R) as the replacement for the discontinued TC-NT3. The TC-NT3 additionally had native USB ports and a shield ground test.
