The TRENDnet TC-NTP1 Inline PoE Tester sits between a PoE switch or injector and a powered device and measures voltage, current, polarity and wattage, for technicians commissioning IP cameras, access points and VoIP phones. It supports IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt (Type 3 and 4) as well as passive PoE.

A 7-segment LED readout shows the live values and LEDs indicate the detected PoE standard; the tester is powered by the PoE line itself, so it needs no battery.

Good to know: The TC-NTP1 is a PoE tester only — it does not test wiring, cable length or tone. It shows the PoE standard, not the individual PoE class (0–8).

Can the TRENDnet TC-NTP1 tell whether my switch delivers enough power for a PoE++ camera?
Yes. In I-mode it shows the real-time voltage, current and wattage drawn by the device, and it recognises 802.3bt Type 3/4, so you can see whether the port actually supplies what the camera needs.
Does the TC-NTP1 need batteries?
No. It is powered by the PoE line under test, so there is nothing to replace, but it cannot power on without a PoE source connected.
Can I use it to check cable wiring?
No. It only measures PoE. For wiremap testing use a cable tester such as the TRENDnet TC-NT2 alongside it.
