TRENDnet TFC-110MM — 10/100 RJ45 to 100Base-FX Multi-Mode MT-RJ Fiber Converter (2 km)
Up to 2 kmMulti-mode MT-RJ · 1300 nm10/100 Auto-MDIXWall-mountable
The TRENDnet TFC-110MM is a Fast Ethernet media converter that links a 10/100 copper RJ45 port to 100Base-FX multi-mode fibre over an MT-RJ connector, covering up to 2 km — typically used to reuse existing multi-mode fibre inside a campus, factory or between floors.
It is unmanaged and plug-and-play: copper from your switch on one side, a multi-mode fibre pair on the other, and power from the included adapter. The far end needs a matching 100Base-FX multi-mode device; MT-RJ is a compact duplex connector, so check what your patch panel uses before ordering.
Before you order: The fibre port is MT-RJ (not SC, ST or LC) and multi-mode only, at 100 Mbps. If your fibre panel uses SC or LC, you will need MT-RJ-to-SC/LC multi-mode patch cords. It will not link with Gigabit or single-mode fibre equipment.
What's in the Box
- 1x TRENDnet TFC-110MM media converter
- 1x external power adapter
- 1x quick installation guide
- Fibre patch cords are not included
What It Means in Practice
- Extends a 10/100 network up to 2 km over multi-mode fibre (50/125 or 62.5/125 µm).
- Use two units (one per end), or one unit plus a switch with a 100Base-FX multi-mode port.
- The RJ45 port auto-negotiates 10/100 Mbps and half/full duplex and has Auto-MDIX.
- A DIP switch selects half or full duplex on the fibre side; full duplex gives 200 Mbps aggregate.
- Wall-mountable, or install in the optional TRENDnet TFC-1600 19" chassis (16 slots, redundant power).
What Will Not Work
- No Gigabit — the fibre link is 100 Mbps only and will not talk to 1000Base-SX/LX or SFP ports.
- Not for single-mode fibre.
- Does not plug directly into SC, ST or LC panels — MT-RJ hybrid patch cords are required.
- No PoE and no management functions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My panel has SC connectors — will this work?
Yes, with MT-RJ to SC multi-mode duplex patch cords. The converter itself only has an MT-RJ port.
Can it reach more than 2 km?
No. 2 km is the published maximum on multi-mode fibre; for longer runs you need single-mode fibre and a single-mode converter.
Does it work with a Gigabit switch?
The copper port links to any 10/100/1000 switch at 100 Mbps. The fibre side only talks to 100Base-FX multi-mode equipment.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The TFC-110MM makes sense when you already have multi-mode fibre terminated in MT-RJ — often in older installations — and need a reliable 100 Mbps link. If your fibre is SC or LC, budget for the right hybrid patch cords; for the copper side choose Cat5e/Cat6
network cables.
✓ Buy it if you have MT-RJ multi-mode fibre and a 10/100 link up to 2 km is enough.
✕ Skip it if you need Gigabit, single-mode fibre or a native SC/LC port.
→ Also consider a Gigabit multi-mode SC media converter for new installations.
Not sure which connector your fibre uses? Send us a photo of the panel or the model of the far-end device and we will check compatibility before you order.
