The TRENDnet TI-M12 is an industrial Modbus gateway that connects serial Modbus equipment to an Ethernet network. It has one DB-9 serial port that works as RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485, and two 10/100 Ethernet ports. It supports Modbus RTU and ASCII in master and slave modes, with up to 32 RS-422/485 devices on the serial port and baud rates from 50 bps to 921.6 Kbps. It runs on 12–56 V DC with a redundant terminal-block input, sits in an IP30 metal housing and works from −40 to 75 °C. In practice it lets a SCADA or building-management system on the LAN read meters, PLCs and sensors that only speak serial Modbus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
A Modbus gateway, not a general serial server. It translates Modbus RTU/ASCII to the network; it is not a virtual COM-port device for other serial software. The serial connection is a DB-9 connector, not screw terminals. No power supply is included — it needs a 12–56 V DC industrial supply such as TRENDnet’s TI-M6024, not a wall adapter. Not sure?
