TRENDnet TPE-E100 Gigabit PoE+ Extender
GigabitPoE+ in / PoE out+100 mNo adapter needed
The TRENDnet TPE-E100 is a Gigabit PoE+ Extender (earlier hardware sold as “Gigabit PoE+ Repeater”) that adds another 100 m to an Ethernet run and passes PoE power through to the device at the far end, so an IP camera or access point can sit up to 200 m from the PoE switch or injector. It takes its own power from the incoming PoE+ link — no mains socket is needed at the mid-point.
Typical jobs are a camera on a far fence line, an access point at the other end of a warehouse, or a gate intercom beyond the 100 m Ethernet limit. Data runs at 10/100/1000 Mbps, and the extender detects 802.3af (15.4W) and 802.3at (30W) PoE automatically.
Before you order: Some of the incoming power is used by the extender itself, so the device at the far end receives less than the switch sends. A camera that needs a full 25W PoE+ budget at 200 m may not start — tell us the device and we will check it.
What's in the Box
- 1 × TRENDnet TPE-E100 Gigabit PoE+ extender
- Quick Installation Guide
- No power adapter — it is powered over PoE
What It Means in Practice
- Install it at the 100 m point of the cable run and continue up to another 100 m to the device
- The PoE source (switch or injector) powers both the extender and the end device
- Units can be cascaded for longer distances; each unit reduces the power available at the end
- Gigabit speed is kept across the extended run
What Will Not Work
- Starting the run without PoE — the extender needs a PoE+ source on its input
- 802.3bt PoE++ devices (60-90W) such as high-power PTZ cameras
- 2.5G or 10G links — it is a 10/100/1000 Mbps device
- Outdoor mounting without a weatherproof enclosure — it is an indoor unit
Key Features
Double the distance
Adds 100 m per unit, for up to 200 m between PoE source and device.
No local power
Takes its own power from the incoming PoE+ link — nothing to plug in at the mid-point.
Auto PoE detection
Detects 802.3af (15.4W) and 802.3at (30W) on the input and passes PoE to the output.
Gigabit throughput
10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation on both ports.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a power socket where I install the extender?
No. The TPE-E100 is powered by the PoE+ coming in from the switch or injector.
Can I run a PTZ camera through it?
Only if the camera works within 802.3at (30W) minus the extender’s own losses. 802.3bt PoE++ PTZ cameras need a PoE++ extender.
Does it slow the network down?
No, it supports Gigabit on both ports, so the device keeps a 1 Gbps link.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The TPE-E100 is the simplest fix when a camera or access point sits just beyond the 100 m Ethernet limit: one box at the mid-point, no extra power, Gigabit speed kept. The limit is power, not data — check that your device fits within PoE+ after the extender’s losses. For PoE sources see our
network switches.
✓ Buy it if a PoE camera, access point or phone sits 100-200 m from your PoE switch and there is no power at the mid-point.
✕ Skip it if the device needs PoE++ (60-90W), 2.5G speed, or you have mains power nearby and could use a local switch.
→ Also consider fibre with media converters for runs well beyond 200 m, or a PoE++ extender for high-power PTZ cameras.
